Special thanks to: Whizzerick, Denise, and Mike Zenor Looks like it is going to happen in August or so as we are waiting on a software update due out by then... BUT, look for these new features coming soon: 1. HAMB Calendar - not only will you be allowed to check out what events are coming up, but you will also be allowed to schdule your own. 2. Improved PM features... You'll see 3. Cleaner and easier to use layout. Hell, I might even redesign the damn thing to correlate with the new... Nope, not giving that secret away yet. Also giving a lot of thought to adding some photo post software to the server similar to Star Photo. Hosting the images would not be a problem, but I am pretty concerned about the bandwidth as I know a lot of folks use that imagery for more than just the HAMB. I'll continue to think about it I guess...
Have you given a thought to adding a Chat function or would it be too much of a hassle to moderate? Sure could be fun. -Dane
Actually yes - we are considering adding a chat room. Honestly, I don't really care all that much for them but I know some folks do. It is on the list for future development.
If you did do a chat thingy would us Limeys be able to use it? Can't use MSN chat rooms anymore (at least i think that's way i can't get into Zeke's chat room) Daisy
<font color="red"> Photo post software would ROCK........no more posting to my site then resaving then posting to here.......sounds like cool***** mang! R E D M E A T </font>
Rad, the short chats I have been involved in on Zeke's chatroom have been pretty damn entertaining and informative. Sounds like a plan. -Dane
Zeke's HAMB chatroom on MSN. Zeke was kind enough to set it up for us to BS around a bit from time to time. -Dane
ryan, i guess anything can be improved upon, but i think it's very good now. i don't want to start a war or anything, but it's been suggested several times (and you've shot it down an equal number of times) that there be a place for purely technical posts and another for car related but not technical posts. still sounds like a good idea to me. in the search feature, didn't we used to be able to put in two or more words and search for all words? not words strung together in a phrase, but two words that we knew were in a post? for instance: "feature" and "more" in the first sentence of this paragraph. sure wish we could do that. man, it sounds like i'm being all negative, but i'm really not. i love this place and whatever/however you do with it will suit me just fine.

Or, you could just take everyones word that they won't link to anywhere but here?
Search functionality. We changed this after our last big traffic surge that caused us to get so slow a few weeks ago. I've been meaning to post directions on how to use the new search function. Here they are: <font color="red">You can search in the whole posting or the subject only. Entering several keywords while return all postings which contain at least one of the keywords. Example: engine ferrari red This will return all postings that contain "engine" or "ferrari" or "red".You can add a "+" in front of a keyword which means that this keyword needs to be in the posting. Example: +ferrari engine red Returns all querys that contain "engine" and "ferrari" aswell as all queries which contain "red" and "ferrari" aswell as all queries which only contain the keyword "ferrari". You can add a "-" in front of a keyword which means that this word should not be contained in a post. Example: ferrari -red Returns all postings that contain "ferrari" but not "red". You can't search for keywords that have less than 4 characters. You can search for phrases if you quote it. Example: "Where is my ferrari?" </font> Now, that said we have a new search engine coming yet again with the next upgrade. These things are hard to deal with man - search engines cause a good deal of server load.
Get that damn red Ferrarri off the HAMB. This here's a board for traditional rods and customs. Geez, who's the new guy?
oh yeah... sorry... that's what happens when you cut and paste... the search engine guy I use is italian - obviously.

Currently on the Rodding Roundtable site I have setup the .htaccess file with some of the options to not allow off site posting of images for any domain not listed in the file. I allow images to the HAMB and the RRT. Other than those the viewers get a image(small file size) that says the image is being linked to improperly. You can see what I mean by looking at the following links isp sub domain redirected domain hosted domain The first one is a dns setting that the ISP gave me when they setup the account before the domain transfered. The second and third are domains that point to the same account as the first. They are all the same files. The only difference is that the second and third is listed in the htaccess file and the first isn't. The image looks like this,
I don't know***** about hosting, webpages, developing, but a friend has been talking about some "crazy" website called powweb.com thats offering 1Gig of disk and 5Gig's of "daily" bandwidth for $8/month. What scale is the HAMB's size/bandwidth/usage compared to a site using something listed above through powweb? clueless, j
I like the HAMB the way it is..........but if you change things around may I suggest changing the little round picture with the three guys in red shirts to something more HAMBish.....black/white and olde timey .
[ QUOTE ] How about a spellcheck feature for the illiterate..?? [/ QUOTE ] How about an automatic filter to remove bad words, like "Bling bling","Dubs","Sup",etc. Ideally,it would also remove pictures of slammed mini trucks and golf carts with billet wheels. Repeat offenders would be dealt with harshly.
