Hi gang, Who's interested in a weekend get away at Put-in-Bay.I can set up free transportation to the island on Miller Boat Line (HAMB cars and people) and rooms at the Bayshore resort for 130.00 a nite. This is a nice hotel on the water with a Tiki Bar,Pool, and onsite resturant. The weekend I was looking at is Oct.3&4,this is also the islands wine fest, alot of fun.Might also be able to arrange an auto parade for Sat. We have one every Sun. at 2:00 also. I have a block of 20 rooms held for a little while yet with 2 queens per room. If I get 15 interested cars and people it will happen. It could become an annual event if theres enough interest.Kick it around and let me know by June 1, they wont let me hold the rooms without a decision past that.Maybe a Poker Run could also be possible. I was born and raised on the island , so I can make this happen.Falls a beautiful time of year here. Keepemrunnin, Scott

That sounds like something my wife might like to do. So where is Put-In-Bay in regards to Blaine, Ohio? (Blaine is near Wheeling,WV on I-70).

PIB is on Lake Erie, west of Cleveland. My wife would really enjoy that also. I have to see if I can get my Pontiac road worthy though.

Wow I'm interested, I'll have to see what is gonig on then. We rent a cottage on Catawaba (sp) Island every August and have been known to do the bar crawl every-so-often.
That seems like a good time indeed!

    What a great idea!!!
My wife and I would be interested. This island is simply beautiful. There are great restaurants there. Simply the best Lobster Bisque Soup on the planet, Walleye and perch till it comes out your ears. Its a party island, still with a family atmosphere. Free Ferry huh?? How did you mange that?
This is a great idea for an end of the year Hamb fling.
You should mention there is a state park there for camping also.

I'd love to do this.. And the wife just might agree since its about the wine.. My buddy just bought a 77 Pinto wagon that was ***led on the island and has that island sticker on it. Maybe he could have a home comeing for that car. lol

Count me in! I have actually spent that same weekend there the past two years! How ironic! It is always my little weekend rest before working off my tail off at Hershey. The weather is gorgeous that time of year with fall in full swing.

Thanks so much for putting this together. I am VERY excited!

Scott, glad to see you taking the ball and running with this. I'm game as well. Hopefully sharing a room to keep the cost reasonable.

If you make up some sort of flyer and email it to me, I will make copies and p*** them out to folks at the events I attend this summer.

So Denise, about sharing that room...

This could be something I could convince the bride about. We need more vacations and less non-vacations!

    NOOOOOOOO

The one weekend I have an event in Oct.

    Damn.

I'll rent my apt 20 min from the boat to anyone who leaves more beer in the fridge than when you get there.

You certainly could BUT from what I understand there would not be a free boat ride. The plan is to gather eveyone on Friday and he would all get us and our cars on the same boat free of charge. He works for the boat company.

My plan to get everyone over to the island is to come up with a time that we all meet at the boatdock, say around 5:00 PM.Well have a ferryboat there to haul all traditional rods and customs along with all HAMB members to the island. We should be able to fit around 20-22 cars on the boat, maybe more. You will then be given tickets to leave the island anytime you please on our regular schedule.Anyone that can't make it Fri. is on there own to get to the island.Thats the best I can do. More to come as I think it up. Scott

Anyway to make the trip there alittle later in the evening? Not sure how many folks are taking Friday off work or are planning on working a full day (like me), then drivetime, I was thinking closer to 7pm or so. Doesn't really matter I guess, you go with the flow and if I have to catch a later boat and pay for it, no big deal.
