Hack the Caddy, that would make a nice ride. Pull out a few inches and sew up the lid!!!

I would like to volunteer my hands for help if possible, I dab a bit in the "hobby" of Metal fabrication [IMG]

Ill offer up my 35 ford PU. Its almost running. Im in the process of running the wiring harness, . And sorting out the little things. But you guys would have to come to me since I dont have any leave time built up to actually take off from work for more than a 5-7 days.

But I could stack quite a few of you up in my spare bedroom, and the couch. And I could feed all of you for the entire time and supply some booze.

Oooh, Fraz. Man, that looks just so nice... I can imagine my car looking like that. I think something like that would look as cool as a Merc. Dreamin'...

OK, I've been reading these posts long enough and I can't keep quiet any longer...

The HAMB Chop is a super deal, there is NO other place that you can get a quality job done on your car in the matter of one weekend, not at any price. It is a shame that a dollar figure came into this discussion, buying T-shirts and materials is just a small token of appreciation...it's not about the money. There are many talented people who come together to donate their time and talent to help one of our young (read poor and inexperienced) members get a jump start on making their jalopy into a real hot rod.
Everyone who participated in last year's event worked their*****s off, including poorboy and his dad, to make his Chevy a one-of-a-kind rod. It was great to see this young guy's eyes light up as his car was turned from stock to custom in a matter of a weekend.
Speaking for myself, I wouldn't have put the time and effort into this event were it not for the recipient. If this event is going to happen again this year, and I really believe that it should, then a little more time and effort should be spent selecting a candidate who meets the criteria for past events...young, eager, grateful, etc....
Let's not lose sight of the reason WHY we do this.

I agree... I've only been here a little bit, but from what i've read about the HAMBchop... it's something that's pretty awesome and deserves a grateful person to have it happen to. I've never heard of something like this, and it takes some talented and selfless people to take a weekend like that and tear apart a car for some one they really don't know... but it's because we've all got a connected love for old cars and how we feel about them. I'm sure you guys will find the right guy and car for this... I'd love to see it happen again. I'd not think twice about spending a grand to have these guys help me make my car what I'd love to see it be... so it shouldn't be about the cash for the time and commitment... it's more then worth it.

If I lived closer, and had a grand, I'd be there, BUT the timing is not right for Big Olds just now. Maybe in the future.

My hats off to those that are participating. Kudos to all involved.

I would offer up T2 to the HAMB God of Chop, but I fear that it would be too long before the frame and lower body would be done for it... It would***** not to have the finished product visible ASAP, plus the whole re-rustification thing may really offend some [IMG]...
