    thanks for all the well wishes guys. i'm still in the hospital. typing with my left hand only due to a broken right wrist. so bear with my typing. the pain has gotten better - due to a pretty good med ****tail. had surgery yeserday. never felt so much pain in my life. they ended up removing 80% of my knee. i'll have a very long road to rehabilitation. but i am alive to tell the tale. i've tried to remain calm through all of it -- though i did tell the first respoder to hold me up so i could punch the mother****er that hit me. i didn't even get an apology. thankfully he admitted fault to the sherriff. don't see how he couldn't though since he came into my lane to make the turn at hit me head on likey well over the speed limit. Lance (towaholic) said my skid marks were only 3 ft long - no time to react - and there were no marks from his car. when we stopped all i could hear was his blaring stereo.

    just taking it one day at a time. i just got out of bed into a chair with the help of PT and the nurses. its going to be a very long road. looks like i'll be using a walker, crutches or a wheelchair. will likely be out of work for some time too. i guess that gives me lots of time to plan the next build for the Model A. have to get through the insurance process first.

    can anyone help me put a value on the car? i'd be interested in finding some recent sales to compare to. the insurance adjuster wants to meet on monday already.

    either way, the car will be back better than ever. there were always a couple things i'd wanted to change. guess i'll have the opportunity now, right?

    i'm sure he felt it, but he walked away . . . walked away without asking me if i was ok . . . walked away without an apology of any kind, even though he was clearly in the wrong. . . . though that could have had something to do with me asking the fire crew to "hold me up so i can punch this motherf**ker in the face." And yelling that i was going to kick his *** as i was laying on the ground bleeding as they strapped me to the backboard for transport. :)

    Glad you are ok I dont have any hot rod or early ford parts to help you out for the rebuild but I am sure you can get some help here! good luck on the recovery! And might be best to have some firemen around to hold you back when his adjuster comes to look at your car luckily my dad ran the **** head adjuster off before I came home guy said he was gonna offer me 500 for my galaxie after I got hit. Needless to say I would have been inclined to take 500 outta his *** with my foot

    Well today I was able to get down the hallway at the hospital 30 feet with the aid of a walker. I was also able to pee standing up for the first time since the accident. Amazing the little things you take for granted.

    I'm hoping to go home from the hospital sometime tomorrow. Then the real physical therapy and recovery will begin.

    I saw some more pictures of the car tonight too. Not a pretty sight. I'm hoping the insurance company treats me fairly. I'd really like to put this car back on the road. It'd take lots of parts and lots of time, but the car and I have history and a story now. The car needs to rise from this to tell its tale too.

    Our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family AND your car. Focus on healing and I'm sure that between the insurance and your friends, your car will "heal" quickly too.

  19. Hey bull! speedy recovery and good wishes for ya. DO NOT take the insurance companies first OR second offers. Make sure this guys ins. knows this is a HANDBUILT ONE OF A KIND automobile! And needs to be delt with as such. It wasnt your fault,you should be PROPERLY compensated for your loss, pain and trauma. Not to mention time invested in the car to build it. I know we do this hotrod building thing for fun,but whats your time really worth? Personally, I think they want to see you Monday while your all doped up on pain killers so they can take advantage of you. You are right, I DONT trust insurance companies on this stuff. I been screwed before. But thats another thread subject. heal up quick! {sorry for the rant}

    Thankfully my dad has taken the reigns on handling the claim for me. He's a hot rodder who's dealt with insurance adjusters for over 35 years in the autobody business. Just so happens that he knows the insurance adjuster that's coming to look at the car too. I WILL be compensated for ALL of my losses I ***ure you. It may take some time, but I have all the time in the world now that I'm knocked off my feet for a good long while.

    Hang in there and heal up. Seeing stuff like this happen scares the **** out of me. It just shouldn't happen, but it does. The other guy deserves a total *** kickin, hopefully someone will give it to him (volunteers anyone?) For that hard a hit your old A stood it pretty well, glad you had seat belts and were using them. Don't settle for your injuries until you are completely healed and you can be completely evaluated by your doctors for a partial lifetime disability. Your knee sounds like it is pretty seriously injured.

  22. Speedy recovery,very tidy rod,hope you get it back all guns a blazing.Seeing a few instances of rods "being took out,"I just find it hard to comprehend that in a sea of copycat cars,people just don,t seem to be aware of a rod or custom near to them.Maybe we're not making them stand out enough?We.ll all have to start blowing a whistle or dress as clowns and honk hooters out the windows.

    For the record, an earlier post said I was going 55. Thats not true. As for how the accident happened . . . the guy was travelling the opposite direction of me on a 2 lane county road. As I crested the small hill he was directly in front of me coming at me turning left onto a side street from my lane. He hit me head on. I was doing maybe 35 in the 40 mph zone. He had to be doing at least 40-50+. My skid marks were measured at 3ft long. There were no skid marks from his car at all. I had little time to react and he never saw me until he hit me.

    It really ****s that you were urt as bad as you were, but sounds like you are already doing better and feeling better. Keep up the good work on the PT and rehab. I know it will get boring and drive you crazy staying home when you want to get out. Daytime TV will rot your brain.

    Your car looks bad, but I think you can rebuild it like you said. Just make it that much stronger and nicer the second time!

    WOW, thoughts and prayers for a speedy and painfree as possible recovery. I'm going to miss seeing you this weekend in DesMoines.

    If you have Hagerty or Grundy you will not have any h***les what so ever from them and I'm speaking from experience.
