Do what the quacks, I mean Dr.'s tell you or Achilles Tendon problems can haunt you for life, I didn't listen. Relax, stay on the H.A.M.B. and get well.

I'm baking spiritual cookies in my head right now and sending them out in the hopes of a speedy recovery. Big gobs of 80% cocoa chocolate chunks, real vanilla extract, creamy butter, a dash of salt, some unbleached flour, a pinch or baking soda, an an egg for good measure and a shitload of sugar. Mixed it, dropped spoonfuls of dough on cookie sheet and placed in a 350 degree preheated oven for 12 minutes and voila - you are on your way to healthiness ... at least spiritually!;)

  5. you'll be mashin the gas with a stick if you dont take care of it. good luck.

  14. You get better, girl. If you were closer, I'd whip ya up a Pot o' Hell. They say chili is a healing potion. If one of your GMB pals PMs me, I'll shoot them my secret recipe. I think there are enough Mexicans in MI to score the ingredients. I can mail what you all can't find. Get well soon, kiddo.

Thanks for all the get well wishes. Means alot.

It was one of those freak things. As some might know Big Olds is at teh South Austin Speed Shop getting a Fat Lucky interior so instead of walking to the NSRA Nats North event I drove my Dad's '48 Ford Coupe which he has up for sale....win/win for both of us.

Well I was standing inside the car by the passenger front seat, holding onto the edge of the roof by the driprail with my left hand/arm and wiping off the roof with my right. I hopped down backwards, about 6 inches, normally no big deal, and I heard and felt something pop and immediatley felt shooting pain up the back of my calf to behind my knee.

I fell into the passenger seat and kinda just sat there for a couple of minutes catching my breath and hoping the pain was just temporary like a charlie horse. Enjenjo then noticed the expression on my face and came over. He helped me to a chair under the RRT canopies cuz every time I tried to step on that foot the pain got worse.

I sat the for awhile with the leg proped up on a cooler...what else at a car show right? A number of car pals wanted to play "doctor" but finally, after a visit by the on site medics, everyone convinced me I should head to the hospital. OldBobSign pulled the roadster up and the guys helped me over to it. Off we went.

The hospital was about a 10 minute ride away. Larry pulled to teh emergency room door, a staff person came out with a wheelchair and with a minute I was sitting in an exam room with half a dozen Doctors and nurses in a out. They explained I had ruptured my Achillies tendon but it didn't look like I would need surgery, just 8-12 weeks of no pressure on the foot.

They put a cast on it, a couple of Vicodine, a pair of crutches and we were out the door. Less then one hour total. I was quite impressed. The bill will probably exceed the total of my new interior though!

Anyway, we headed tot he drugstore to fill the prescription then back tot he fairgrounds. Larry wanted to run me back to Detroit but I wasn't having any of that. I could sit in a lawn chair just as easily as sitting in my overstuffed chair at home.

I really did have a great day just sitting around and enjoying everyones company that stopped by the RRT encampment. Mom is driving Dad to JusJunks place in the morning to catch a ride to the fairgrounds with Dave so he can then drive me and the '48 home.

Plans were for me to drive the '48 to the GG Chicagoland event next weekend and Dad was going to take his '56 Olds. At this point I don't know what the plans are going to be for anything over the next couple of months.

As far as cookies go, you guys are on your own for awhile and for those that have offered to baked ME ones, thanks for the offer BUT I'm going to try to stick to fruits and veggies for the next couple of months.;)

Hellraiser, I just might take you up on your offer. It might be a way I could get around the event as opposed to having to just sit in a lawnchair and watch the world go by. I'll let you knwo as the time gets closer.

Thanks again to everyone for the kind thoughts, prayers, well wishes, PM's and phone calls. xoxoxoxoxoxoox

  28. ...power takeoff unit. I hate when that happens.

Sorry you're hurt and hurting, Denise.

As the old saying goes, if you wanna make God laugh, tell Him your plans.

Don't try to rush your recovery. Take care, and let people pamper you!

Warmest regards and best wishes for healing.
