This is become very common for people selling cars online. Here is a good link to read:http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=253
No I Didnt Send The Rearend I Knew Something Was Wrong When The Buyer Was Not Asking Much About The Part And Quick To Send The Check Tim
I have had this several times with ads I have on craigslist, guy says he will send a cashiers check for more and to give the balance to the shipper picking up the car....yeahhhh right!!!........DELETE!........can't believe that there are people out there that actually fall for that scam and cash the check......
I got at least 8 of those when I was selling my dirt bike in the recycler....I thought it was kinda funny when one guy said "I've been looking for this same model for a long time and is exactly what im looking for".....dude..its just a 96 yamaha 250...how rare are those?
this happened to me too. some guy said he wanted to buy a 50s okeefe & merrit stove and tryed to pull this... i think if someone is stupid enough to fall for this, thet deserve it...
Some guy tried that with me only he used cash and did not want any back, I did not let him fool me I gave him the parts free of charge and gave him my credit cards to boot.
Try this I got an email like this and I never even sold anything on the internet!I don't know how the hell they even got my email .I'm thinking through some site the 3 teenage grand kids visited while here even though we try to keep a good eye on what they do.
I hear you! It makes my head hurt!!! I think he has his cap lock ****on on and there's a program now in the HAMB that takes the rest of all the words down to lower case. Still hard to read!
on the other hand....I just sold my long-bike to a guy in sweden, I did a wire transfer directly to my account. I told him I would not ship the bike until it was in my account. I set up a seperate account, once the money was in, I transferred the money out and closed that account. There are ways to do this, ask you banker, thats why we pay for their services.
I had two birds on the net for sale awhile back and got a bunch of those emails. One of them even said topic re:Two ****atoo's for sale But in the body it said I really want the puppy for my kid's. I just ignored all of them.
I got an ebay related email from kanter pleading with me to allow them to complete a deal for a power brake booster they were high bidder on and remove a non paying bidder strike against them. Aside from the fact that the auction number was bogus, I've never listed a brake booster in my 8 years on ebay.
its just a bunch of third world boiler room criminals i cant believe people actually fall for this ****..
What Is This With The Capitalization Of Every Word Thing??? Yes, If Someone Wants To Send You More Money Than You Asked For, It May Be A Hint...****, I just put a comma in there, is that bad??
I love those emails.I'll screw with them for weeks."Which size do you want?" "Early or late model? Start hitting them with other specifics. One guy's blog I read kept them going for 8 monthes screwing with them.
If it wasn't for greed....there would be no scam artists. Rule of thumb....if it sounds too good to be true it's a scam.
Do what one guy did. Take their phony check, send them a box with some worthless thing FedEx freight collect and give it an inflated customs value. Like the laptop computer scammer that they sent the guy a 3-ring binder with a bunch of keys glued on one side and the screen drawn on the other side in magic marker. Cost the guy a couple hundred bucks to pick the thing up.
I have sold several things on Craigslist lately, and most of the items are 2 or 3 items together, and everytime I get my first response, it is someone saying they are interested in "my item for sale and want to know where they can send a check right away". Every response is the same, like they just cut and paste the response over and over. If you are gonna try and scam someone, at least try a little harder.
I`ve been selling stuff on the internet ever since Al Gore invented it and this is the first I`ve ever heard of such a scam. Please tell me more !
Steve, You got any other parts you want to get rid of? I might be looking for exactly that....what was the credit line on those cards.....I ain't got enough time to be messing with it if the credit cards ain't worth much. You knew aomeone was going to reply this way, Its a rough job, but somebody has to di it. Gene
FWIW, I don't think I've ever gotten a scam offer from a post here in the HAMB cl***ifieds. Maybe we should all try posting things here first?
i think the ones i had were lazy, the ***le of the section my ad was in, it was just cut and pasted in.......i would like to buy your "auto parts and acc" please.........
