I'm not around there enuf to know any of the locals names, but that describes about of 1/2 the people I've seen in there we'll swing by next time were out and prowling that area for old stuff .
I live with a Cedar Rapidian, our house has Hawkeye stuff everywhere. Her brother-in-law works in plant operations at UI. We are usually back in Iowa once a year, This year its at the end of May for a wedding in Iowa City. I like it up there, lotsa room, (if you have ever been to Pinellas County, FL it's like living in a crowded shopping mall), cheaper housing, cheaper insurance, Nice people, kinda reserved though, I think I piss everybody off. Oh, and Jonesy's in Solon for Tenderloins.
WAIT ,WAIT a minute, don't forget about the cool guy. Yep from country school to bib overalls I'm still here. Retired ,just screwing around with old iron . Glenwood is just outside Omaha,we call it the garden spot of mid america. WE don't have any good tenderloins here but you guys do make me jealous. WE like BBQ, no sushi please. I'm, sure up for a meet in Des moines this summer.Any excuse to go on a road trip. The official Iowa Cornfield Cruise maybe.
Don't blame you, I got out of school and wanted to get out. That didn't last long and now you couldn't make me to leave.
The other night I ran into a HAMBer's (Farmer) photostream on flickr on accident, and thought, "Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the HAMB...." and logged back in. So here I am digging up this thread like a catfish.. I'm still in Ames, still driving the same unnoteworthy car (which still runs fine though!) I sorta found photography as a hobby and it took over my life... If I'da dumped my photo money into my old car, it'd be pretty kick ass I imagine.. Anyway, here's a couple of 'Iowa' and 'Car' photos related to the thread. That's a ketchup bottle next to the napkin holder, in M'Town: In fact, I use photography as an excuse to drive my Ford around the countryside: I still don't have any local friends, especially those interested in classic cars, which explains why I usually don't have much motivation to modify my ride in any way. I just drive it as is, since it's a perfect enough moment being alone on a gravel road with that original AM radio playing music... If any of you in the area ever want real B&W photos taken of your cars with a wide range of cameras, hit me up with a message. I can develop and make prints at home to your liking. I'm not the most artistic guy in the world, but I have a pretty strong technical understanding of how B&W photography works.
