    Mercdueceman,

Tell the boys were sending them positive thoughts.

They'll get that sorted out, I'm sure.

I just saw this. I'm in Santa Fe. If there's anything I can do, let me know.

This actually made me wish I still lived in Gallup and you have no idea how crazy that is!

Good luck boys! Blessings to all of you who are stepping up for them too:)

The boys are trying to find a transport company to ship Mikey's RPU back to Indy. Anyone got any ideas or know of one that would be good to use?

BenD, he's on his way or at the RoundUp right now but maybe he's interested in the job afterwards. I'd trust him with anything I own, period.

    Just talked to Dustin.
Metalman had an engine guy that he trusts look at their situation.

The engine guy took their bad head and milled it. They filed the block and reinstalled the head.
They have some super block sealant and Metalman and Dustin were running the valves when I called.
They should know the verdict soon.
We aren't out of the woods yet but things are looking better.

These 2 guys are studs! I hope there is at least a couple High Life's involved in all this work. I am sure they are anxious to get back on the road and back to indy, but what an experience!

Guys im up in central illinois so my ***istance is limited . But i did see something posted about a transporter .

Ive used this guy on several occasions and he has 3 or 4 other drivers out runnin , cars are 80-90 cents per mile is what he charges and he seems like a good guy , His name is John . Might give him a call if it comes to that , if he is in the area he might have a spot looking to fill to come back up this way.

    Bummer on the engine!

I have a 305 SBC sitting on an engine stand. I pulled it out of a mid 80's Blazer. The engine had a pretty decent lower end knock. I was going to drop the pan and replace a bearing and use it but I ended up with another engine to use in its place, since then I haven't done anything with it.

Granted, buying a rebuilt crate engine would be the best option but if the boys are on the cheap then it might be a possibility.

The local Pull-a-part wrecking yard is another source of cheap engines. I think they raised the price up to $150 + core. They could probably find something runnable out there.

I'm tied up this evening but free tomorrow and Friday if they need a hand.

    5:00pm UPDATE:

Dustin just called and said they made their first fuel stop. The RPU is doing good. The hottest the car has gotten has been 185.
The plan right now is make to Amarillo and overnight there.

I can't thank everyone enough for the help you have given these guys.

Man, that's great, sounds like it's going to work! FWIW I was glad to help, these two young guys were great and for their age they are the real deal, they are more real hot rodders then a lot of guys 3 times their age. I had a blast hanging out with them last night and today. Dustin and Mark are going to be the guys that keep this sport alive and well for many years to come. Wishing them a "boring" rest of the trip if you know what I mean!

Metalman, you're the real deal too, for stepping up and stepping out when needed:)

It's so cool to see so many people reaching out, why the heck can't we do this more often?
