Hamber's that Surf......roll call......

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Farmer, Dec 28, 2003.

  1. Hey, I was doing some surfing during the last couple of days
and I got to wondering...who all on the Hamb surfs....that is, regularly or at least once a month. I know Detonator does, but not sure or can't remember who else does...let's make a Hamb surfer list.
By the way, I surfed a reef near Avila beach called 'spyglass', it was NICE. today I surfed at Morro Bay
Rock. it was head high-overhead, offshore and NICE. My chest
hurts, and my arms are sore. Good day- later

  2. sounds cold. I surf Rincon twice a week. I was born and raised in San Clemente and dont remember learning.

there was a fist fight post months ago about surfing. Dr.J surfs if I remember right.

When DrJ surfed....."The air was clean and the sex was dirty"

    I surf a little.....

  4. Rincon always looks nice when I drive by it, but I'm goofy foot, so it ain't my bag. I love central coast though. I mostly surf the local stuff though around Half Moon Bay and Pacifica up north. Santa Cruz too.

  5. you lucky bastards , i am happy if i can surf one time a year . I am home in switzerland and my next spot is in italy that works only in winter ,most the times we surf the atlantic coast in french, spain and portugal . but it not easy to get good waves because we cant go out if we know the waves are good . We visit a beach and then we have to wait for a swell [IMG]
hope you catch some waves D

  6. The only surfing i do is on the computer [IMG],,,,,upstate South Carolina.....lotta lakes ,,,,no big waves. HRP

Damn, I miss living near the ocean! Santa Cruz is my old stomping grounds. Now I can only manage to get out to San Diego or Orange County a couple of times a year with my boogie board.

If you include Moby Dick surfing count me in!!

You know..when a big fat white guy belly surfs in and knocks over all the little kiddies building their sand castles. [IMG]

Nobody wants to see this fat slob standing above the water.

..........aaahhhhh..........years ago. NJ, MD, DE, Hatteras, Shark Pit, Sabastien Inlet and Spanish House in FL. Those days are gone. Lifeguards banned me years ago, I was scaring people off the beach!

  11. Fink, I've heard of all those places...in fact the first place I ever attempted to surf was at St. Augustine beach in Fl. I am gonna make an East Coast surf trip one of these days up along the northern coast....new jersey, maine, ma.
I've seen way too many good pics of that place not to check it out.

  12. but.....I have also heard that those areas up north on the East Coast have just as big a problem with Great Whites as we do in Northern Ca. Just like home I guess....cold water and men in gray suits.

But the waves here on the Gulf coast of Florida suck.

Life was better when I lived in Melbourne. [IMG]

I surf and live in east side Santa Cruz. See Detonator's brother out pretty often, don't know if he has a HAMB handle, but he's a hot rodder.

Wait for a hurricane. The surfers are always on the news with the reporters covering the storms. Big waves.

I'm really still a beginner and living in Chicago doesn't help me advance my skills... Here are PICS of my trip to socal in Oct. Fastsporty and I met Shortbus out there and he was kind enough to set us up with boards and we had a hell of a good time. I plan on visiting yearly and getting back on a board. Fastsporty just got a shortboard, but he's gonna have a hard time getting up on it. I'm also a member of the Great Lakes Surfing Association, but I haven't been brave enough to get wet yet. I need a longer board for fresh water.

as a kid in the sixties, I sand surfed. We had very large sand duns in west Texas that we had small skatboard size boards that we used. A lot of fun but a bitch to climb back to the top every time.TP
