    I wonder if it's possible to save mig welds by doing this. I have some patch panels mig welded in but there is a lot of shrinkage. I wonder if I go back and heat up the weld a inch or two at a time if I can hammer the panels back into shape?

    I would definitely give it a try, but sometimes my confidence exceeds my actual abilities. :rolleyes:

    Definitely get familiar with the process (if you aren't already) before trying to correct the bad areas. If you have some spare parts to practice on, you might want to simulate the bad MIG welds and see if you can correct it there.

    Depending on how bad the shrinkage is, and your skill level, you might need to do this in a couple p***es. Bring it up a little on the first p***, then a little more on the second p***, etc. Depending on how much grinding you've done on the MIG beads, you might be able to use the gas torch to re-flow the beads without adding any more filler.
