hand lock up

    can you test a lock up torque converter with the box out if you wire up the box lock up and turn the converter by hand and switch on should it lock up

    I can only speak to GM transmissions, but the converter lockup on those uses a solenoid valve to send pressurized trans oil to the converter to engage the lockup clutch. Without the pump shaft turning at engine speed, there's no hydraulic pressure and thus no lockup.
