I saw this on a different site and had to try it out. I picked up a palm nailer used a 3/8" bolt and 2 washers. The cool thing is you can use longer bolts for different jobs. When you apply pressure it starts to hammer. I used it on a door today, I couldnt swing a hammer on the inside of the door panel so this thing was slicker than snot on a rain coat.
Have one and use it. I use a foot valve to turn mine on and off. I also use a air hammer with custom ground hammers in it and hold it by the barrel with one hand and the dolly in the other. Fritz
Hey, I think HAMB member John Kelly did a video on the use of a palm held nailer for the metalshaping of quarterpanels. Ya mite schek his site or the search funtion for more info?
I have to do my 59's door, is that small enough to fit inside? Or did you have the dollies on the inside?
It is small enough to get inside the door. I had the dolly on the outside. You could always use a longer bolt and make a couple different sizes. For the money this thing worked great.
i have one i have yet to use, i did try an old exhaust valve and it fit perfect, just need to cut the stem down a little and round the head.
Is the shorter overall size the benifit here? I was just about to order the one from Eastwood that fits in a standard air hammer for $20, I would have to believe the palm nailer would cost more than that, no?
I saw these used in some of Ron Covell's videos...looks like it would save some elbow grease over banging a panel with a hammer.
