I had the '55 out yesterday with my cellphone connected via bluetooth to the speakers for navigation but I still like to see the route ahead of me. Georgia is a hands free state when it comes to cell phones. Has anyone found a temporary way to mount their cell phone to the dash that can be removed after the trip has been completed?
I have a '56 dash in mine and I'm thinking there has to be some way to use the ashtray but haven't found it yet.

Check out Mob Armor products. Little pricey. This is what my kids are using in their off road trucks. They jump their trucks too and it still holds tight. A lot of the cheaper ones will move with the vibration of the car.
The back of the cradle is a magnetic swivel ball mount. Just stick it to any metal surface.

Thanks! I went with the setup below. All in I'm at about $30 for the base and phone holder attachment. I haven't had a chance to ride around with it to see how bad it vibrates but I can say that the magnet is very strong and won't be sliding off. I can share the Amazon links if anyone is interested and I'll post an update once I have a chance to try it out.

Do you have a pad under the magnet?

Yes, the base I chose came with a rubber pad already attached. Looks to be about 6 magnets under the pad which I guess makes sense with the base being rated at a 60lb vertical pull force.

This is the phone mount I went with. The "goose neck" portion of the mount comes off and I have the phone holder mounted directly to the base. If I ever want to shoot a video from the outside of the car I may add that part back on.

Just took the car out and can report the phone is very stable and does not bounce. Thanks Zax for the idea.
