I need some help hanging my lake pipes. The brackets that I have are way too small, and cant even get it to close enough to thread it without damaging the pipe.
Are there any alternatives not sure if I want to weld them

  4. I drilled the backside of each of my lakes pipes about 7 times and installed 3/8" rivserts (dorman calls them rivet nuts) and cut pieces of sheet metal about 2" wide and bolted one end of each piece to each rivsert. Then I screwed the other ends to the bottom of the car

    I
Welded 3 3/8 inch by inch and a 1/2 bolts to the inside of the tube and then welded Angle iron brackets to the car 20240822_161442.jpg for to it to slip into And used one of the hangers-on the front in the Fender well.

I ended up extending the loop on the back of the bracket on the flat side. Next step is to make a rounded cover on the fender from some 45* tubing

I took some pics of some that are already hung, I'll have to load them in a bit. Its a 57 Ford, the frame is curvy so the brackets are not same from and rear.
Basically its 2 L shaped brackets, the front have a slot so you can adjust the in and out of the pipes.
The issue I see is the body seam in the way so this build, they just cut that width and flattened it. It seems they welded it on either side to keep the seem intact.
The inner L bracket get bolted to the frame, then there is a in-between that goes up into the floor( maybe the bolt come down from the floor.
Either way, Im due to getting mine done and it will be very similar to this.

It just need to be a simple mount, not some elaborate full kustom (i did it best $$$, ....goes to shop BS- look at these welds, etc, etc..) thing- I know people talk smack on things but we seems to have lost the spirt of getting it done and moving on. I know of a few cars that have had to have the pipes changed out as they sit low and they get wrecked easily on speed bumps in LA.

these have been mounted since at least 2019.

Im glad there is a thread on this now, this for KUSTOM KAR hanging lakes pipes (functional or non-functional). If you have any comment or issues with them, please keep them comments (on this mount or car) to yourself and move along.

depending On whether they will be exhaust pipes (functional) or rock slider curb feelers.. you need to put flex pipes , but best way is to tig brackets on and mount them solid so the don't rattle and bust loose

  9. Can you add spacers and longer bolts with your brackets?
Something I've used to mount miscellaneous things is black rubber plugs from an online seller and drill them out for the bolts to slip through.
