This 28 roadster pick up sat for 38 years in the dark. This isn’t your ordinary RPU. This was built by some big names of Los Angeles. The chassis, rollbar, headers and recessed firewall were built by M&V Automotive. 265 Vette Engine by Tim Timmerman, 1960 T-10 trans by John Gherity, Chevy Rear gears by Getz and all body work by El Monte Auto Body. I have every single receipt and water transfer from all speed equipment I recently raced at Trog at Flabob Airport and it’s beyond fast. Why did I name it Hanoi Hustler? Well Ed Woodward the original owner was drafted to Nam in 63 and never finished the RPU. I am now the second owner. Enjoy !

The Hustler is a military jet that was flown in Vietnam. Hanoi is in Vietnam. Pretty great name considering he was drafted.

Thanks @hudsonjoe49 for sharing this most interesting acquisition...you never fail to find what helps make this place as special as it is...and taking the time to get them on the road reflecting and sharing their unique histories...very admirable...

Joe, was Isky's radiator cap modded with wings in tribute to the former owner being a pilot in that conflict so many years ago?

  14. Probably the find of a life time. Congratulations, and I too admire you for bringing her out of the darkness and back in action. It was meant to be.:)

    Hey @hudsonjoe49
That is indeed a rare find!

When I saw the receipt's, I got a big smile, a few years ago at the Portland Swapmeet, there was a stack of vintage repair order, write up pads on a table.

I bought one for $1.00, I wished I had bought more than just one pad. I use them as packing slips/inventory list for various things and parts that I ship to various people around the country.

I thought that this pad I have, is unique, but its more than apparent that this type of pad was very common to a variety of garages around the country.
What a cool coincidence that mine has M.V. in its initials, for "MAPLE VALLEY GARAGE"

    Thanks from Dennis.

I just noted it's not a set of wings, under the mummy cap, it's actually a propeller...

    Have a great birthday @hudsonjoe49...

The Hustler sure doesn't have a propeller thats for sure...pretty fearsome beast it is t
    Really first flown in 56...
