Never been to Canada but they produced the best Rock Band ever, RUSH...all I know is that today Canada became a country from the British colonies.
formerly Dominion Day (French: Le Jour de la Confédération), is Canada's national day, a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act (today called the Cons***ution Act, 1867), which united two British colonies and a province of the British Empire into a single country called Canada. Canada Day observances take place throughout Canada as well as internationally.

How Canada got its name...(as told to me by a genuine touque-wearing Newfie)... The newly-formed nation had yet to name itself, as many names were bandied about, but no one could agree to any of them. The Provincial leaders and other people were picked to come up with a name that everyone could agree to. After two weeks of beer-fueled fights, broken noses and stomachs full of moosemeat, one man finally stood up and said: "We must do this the only fair way possible! We will take all of the letters of the alphabet and put them in a hat. We'll draw them out, one by one, and whatever that spells, will be the name of our new and great Nation!" So, standing on a rise, overlooking the great crowds of people, the man took the hat with the letters began the magnificent task of drawing the letters from the hat... "First letter! Cee, eh? Second letter! "N", eh? Third letter! Dee, eh?" Today's Canadian History lesson! Happy Canada Day, folks!
