In case you haven't seen this, it's cool, Heyyyyyyyy!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlNpBOkUZms&feature=related Check out the T bucket in Fonzie's shop, does anyone recognize that car??
There is also another (what looks to be) Model A roadster hiding in the shadows at the other end of the shop,....
I'm pretty sure those cars were owned by members of the LA Roadsters. Neal East told me that the club was contacted by Paramount and used their cars. You can see the Bob McGee/Dick Scritchfield '32 and the Doane Spencer car in some of the early episodes.
nice, but old news to me. I saw every show from it's birth on "Love American Style (loved the theme song) to the last show in 1984 when I was 21. The early shows were the best.
Ah, yes, those early episodes. I watched Happy Days from day one. Mostly for the cars and music. It seems like almost every early episode was loaded with cool rides. Then... they went to a "live studio audience" and Fonzie started to speak. He was much cooler when all he did was either give a thumbs up or down. He lost that mystic when he opened his mouth. After those early episodes, it went down hill, as far as I'm concerned. Perhaps the episode where they're in Hawaii and Fonzie water-ski's in his leather jacket, can be marked as the end of what had been a good show. Now, the Fonz is reduced to posing in front of a*****py car in the occasional HAMB thread. Someone needss to post one to jar the memory. Those posts were some of the funniest***** ever posted on the HAMB. If ya want to piss Lucas off, tell him that Happy Days was a spin-off of AG. He's quoted as saying he hates that*****.
Here's the episode with the Doane Spencer car when Neal East owned it. Fast forward to around 13:00 and you can see it pretty well when Fonzie gets up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1LIg79Z3ZQ&feature=related
Bill Haley and the comets, cool stuff. I think the guitar solo was cut from another song. At least I've noticed that from the one CD I have.
This was the best! Worst was when fonzi tried to jump the garbage cans on his bike and landed on the chicken shack lol!
there was one episode where Ritchie raced his dad's deSoto, and the fonz and his gearhead buddies brought over a blower and put on the old mans car. I have only seen that episode one time, and have no idea what number it is. anyone else remember this?
thats the one casue they stop and try to pick up 3 girls and one of them was maureen mccormick from brady bunch
Great memories .... I loved that show for a long time growing up. I would have to pose this question? Who was hotter Pinky or Leather Tuscadero? Ahhhh childhood memories!!!
I remember reading somewhere that the producers of Happy Days had planned for the Fonz to get a chopped Merc to use on the show. According to the article (I wish I could remember where it was from), they were having a chopped Merc built for the show. But, before it was finished the show's format changed and they no longer shot scenes out in the parking lot of Arnold's Drive-In (I think this was after season two or three). So, the chopped Merc was never used. Rudy's Green Flame Merc was the car they were going to use. Eventually the Green Flame changed hands a few times and Big Daddy Don Garlits ended up with it. It was re-done in a new paint scheme and the rest is history. We all know how the Gypsy Rose '64 Impala appeared in the opening credits of Chico and the Man. The result was the popularity of the lowrider '64 Impala exploding. Can you imagine what would've happened if Happy Days had come through and Fonzie cruised around in a chopped Merc? The come back of the kustom would have started a little earlier than it did in the late 70s and early 80s.............E
The silver/gray 32 roadster belongs to Duane Kofoed- long time LA Roadster member. It is yellow now. Duane bought the car from Carl Schrode. It was in the opening shots for the first few shows pulling into a spot at the drive in.
