Projects Happy new year?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Lloyd's paint & glass, Dec 27, 2020.

  1. Happy new year? That is the question. What I hope for in the new year is that the present situation will improve. If not, so be it. I also hope to meet a few you hoodlums ( fellow H.A.M.B. Ers that is)

I want to enjoy every day as much as I can, just as I have this year, regardless of the situation.
And drive my old cars as much as I can, too. Driven the '40 344 days this year so far, and the Nomad 234. I'd have driven them even more except for an acute case of colitis which has prevented me from driving them the last five days.
    Every day is a gift.

I look forward to bringing my Comet to Lloyd for an anti ugly party. Then trying to make all of the SEGA events and going rounds. DSCF3776.JPG

Well, Santa was kind to me this year. He left me the gift to clean up the front of one shop and make plenty of room to put my kids engine back together, in my stocking was the motivation to clear out a bay in the garage so I can bring her rearend in and do a gear change.
    So, 2021 objectives are:
Finish her car by Spring, also includes putting in a T56 ( its OT, but all Chevy).
After that my poor ‘57 has spent its last days in the weather. What’s left in the garage stall where the rear will be, gets moved into the shop where the engine is or tossed.
Plans for the ‘57 are pretty simple, disc bake axle I’ve had for years, lower it some and get away from the ‘70s look, and enjoy driving it. Only cosmetic thing will be the bed, last few winters with it being out has taken its toll on the wood.

The cool thing is now that our OT has been cut I’ll be back to a 4/3 work week, 8 months of OT bought everything I needed for the kids car, and some stuff for my ‘57.

I’m not looking not even thinking of the other two trucks , both HAMB friendly, until those two are done, I’m not going to **** myself into thinking I’ll get the large shop cleared for working space. “ A mans gots to know his limitations “

    Get the OT Oldsmobile running.
New fuel system in the Chevy, 1/4 mile time this year.
Attend events (hopefully) and meet more HAMBers.
Sell lots of parts at swap meets!

well I made it thru 2020, the better half did not throw me out so I figure I am on a roll, finishing the last of the rust repair on my truck, have the new front axle and brakes ready to go in, have an engine ready
to go in, need to box frame next. Maybe done by 2022.

Hoping to get my Morris woody painted and upholstered, my roadster painted and back together, and in between, put plenty of miles on my newly acquired ‘28 coupe.
Most of all, I’m hoping it’s a Happy (and safe) New Year for all you guys.

Gotta change the front coils on my 36, then it'll see the road big time if this covid **** goes away, going to the salt in august, a week down, a week on the salt and a week home. All in a hot rod, I'm gonna be the coolest ****er on the planet, and a very satisfied man having accomplished a goal since I was 13, makes 52 years planning it. If I can get into the US of A, I'll see some of you boys on the salt.....

God, grant me the serenity to accept that there are cars I cannot build

The courage and the tools and the skills and the money and everything else it takes to build the cars I can

And the wisdom to know the difference

    Duh... o_O ... LOL

You guys haven't seen me do much. When I joined the hamb in 2008 and had my cars and I was working on them, I didn't post about them a lot for some reason. Besides, I had too many freaking cars I didn't get any of them done. Then some sudden changes came, I sold everything, drove truck cross country for 3 years, then I settled here at Judy's farm. Might stay here for life. A good place to retire. But not a lot of money. And I've been awfully busy the last 4 years, trying to organize and repair and improve things here after being neglected so badly for 20 years.

So I haven't done a lot with the '53 Chrysler Newport yet. But I hope to soon... I guess. Truth is, I don't even know if I want to build this car. I'd much rather build a pre-war roadster or a coupe. But at this point, I don't know if it's in the cards.

    Maybe I'll surprise us. LOL
    We'll see. Do my best.
Actually, happy to have anything old to screw around with. Even a little at a time.

Good luck to everybody in 2021

Step one for 2021 is buying a pair of JW '32 frame rails.
