Thanks, Ryan, for giving us a place to continue our foray into our madness all these years. I've been here since almost the beginning and have enjoyed contributing and ingesting the mashed taters and stuffing of this table. You get the crazy drunk uncle occasionally but that comes with the territory of family, which we are in a sense. Happy Thanksgiving to all my HAMB brethren! (PS . Ryan, Keep marinating on my recipe for mayhem and disaster here in Tucson. It will be delicious) I'm building something very similar to this picture too.
I'm thankful for the HAMB! Thanks Ryan, for letting us all hang out in your garage. This is my favorite place.
Here's thanks from Down Under. Thankful for the patience that people show in answering my dumbass questions, and also for what I have learnt here. Cheers, Harv
Thanksgiving Model 61 Econoline Window Van Hello, After years of taking a well deserved vacation during the fall season, the football season was over for our high school team. So, for the last two years of school, we took off for Baja Mexico and the undiscovered surf spots. The first time, we had our family Thanksgiving Dinner on a Tuesday night as our dad usually got a smoked turkey from his friend in Los Angeles. It just came warm and the dinner was great. The Plus thing from the dinner was my brother and I had ½ of the large Coleman Green Cooler packed with all sorts of smoked Turkey. We even took a smaller cooler with the fixings and gravy to go with the turkey. We actually got tired of eating regular turkey and now the smoked turkey was going to be the standard. My mom did not like the all day cooking and preparing the whole dinner + fixings. So, when the smoked turkey was brought home, she relished the day and wanted more of the same. Our family had traditions like Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday night. But they knew we took off immediately afterwards for our own activities for the next few days until school started again. So, our parents allowed a change of family traditions to accommodate the two sons and their south of the border wanderings… Jnaki So, how did a Thursday night dinner get moved? Our folks saw us getting ready for the long 4 day vacation, packing the vans and sedan delivery full of stuff. As soon as we finished the turkey, my brother and I were off to Baja Mexico. Stopping along the way in Dana Point for the important ice blocks. The next year, the dinner got moved to Wednesday night and we took off late that night. So, Thursday we had our own left over Thanksgiving Dinner with our surf friends on the beach in various Baja locations. Even after we got married, our family dinners were in 2nd place so we could go on a surf adventure holiday. YRMV Finally, since now, schools realized a lot of people were taking off the whole week prior to Thursday Thanksgiving, they followed colleges with the extra days off. We all knew the school year got boosted by three days, but at the time, a week long Thanksgiving Dinner week was outstanding. So, now, our thoughts went to leaving on Friday night the weekend before, giving us 10 full days of vacation in Baja Mexico, coming home on Monday morning in time for school. Yowza !
Yeah, you're welcome. From one sick bastard to another, thanks (I guess) for introducing all of us unsociable weirdo types to all the other unsociable weirdo types thus making us feel like we're normal. Right. At least the cars are cool. Happy Thanksgiving!
