Thinking of my grandfather who fought in the Dardanelles and Mesopotamia in WW1 and my Dad who was in France, Holland, Belgium and Germany in a Sherman tank in WW2. They were both lucky and came home but so many didn't, giving the ultimate sacrifice. The same for many in succeeding conflicts. Let's remember them all and say "Thank You"!

VS-27, aircrewman and flight deck troubleshooter, aboard the USS Randolph 1965-1968. There are a LOT of national chains giving free or highly discounted meals to veterans today.

    And thanks for remembering!!

Thank you to all who served. I'll have a silent toast in the garage tonight for those who didn't make it back. It's cool to be a veteran now but it wasn't that way when we came home. Protestors threw garbage on us when we returned to San Francisco. Fighter Squadron VF-211 USN 1971-75.

Thanks to all of my fellow veterans. Whether you served for just a few years or for several decades, it was all important work. God bless you.

It was and continues to be an honor to have served and if needed will do it again because as stated in a prior post we live in the best country in the world and if all of us will work at it, it will stay that way. GO SPECTRE!

I have a lot to be grateful for, because so many veterans fought for my freedoms! My grandfather (whom I was named after)....didn't come back from Iwo Jima in 1945...he's still there ''someplace'' on the island....my grandmother never remarried.....lives get changed forever, and affects everything in a family and the lives that go on. It's good to reflect, and remember what is gone, and why...."here one day, and gone tomorrow", the saying still goes! It's humbling, and leaves me very appreciative. "THANK YOU SINCERELY VETERANS"!!! It's remembered and appreciated on this day even more! (Ray, U.S.N. 1977 - 1987)

Appreciate the respect for veterans! Was not that way when I came home from Vietnam in 69. Served 13 1/2 months there with the 82nd Airborne.

Thanks to all that served past and present. Taking my father in law to lunch right now. Served in Korea in the late 50's.

He drove a big wrecker on a tank recovery crew. A true hot rodder, he had the motor pool paint his wrecker with a gloss paint and he detailed his rig including mount flags on the fenders. When they were to have a base inspection by the commanding general they sent him out on a series of calls to keep him out of sight and kept the pool out of trouble.

Also a big thanks to our nephew serving in Pearl Harbor and his partner that was discharged in July. Both Navy Corpmen.

Phillip's grave is right next to those of my wife's parents. She leaves a vase full of flowers on their graves several times a year and I always ask her to place a flower on his grave. He died in Vietnam a month before his 20th birthday. RIP Phillip and thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice. You are a true hero...
