A day for all of us vets to think about the ones' who didn't make it home and count our blessing for being lucky enough to.

Thank you to all who served to protect us. My dad was a WWII fighter pilot. The government declined to invite me to visit Vietnam in 1971 due to a football injury, but I lost some friends, and know many others who came back, but were never the same. So, thank you all.

    Hello,

We grew up watching all of the Bob Hope Shows for the troops all over the world, as did most kids. It was a celebrity celebration for thanking the servicemen overseas and locally, in the USA. In more recent times, a pretty cool show that spanned the era of the 50s-60s also had a great section of a USO show for the troops. The 2017-2019 version of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel streaming program was perfect, to ease the tensions and have fun doing it.

Remember, it is a streaming show for everyone, but there are some portions that are not for younger family members.

“All gave some, some gave all” We all owe a debt of gratitude past, present and future to all those that serve to keep this country free.

Thanks to all women/men who took time out of your lives, who offered yours up to kept my family and friends safe and me secure here on this side of right.

Being a vet myself, USAF, '58 to '62 comes from a very, very limited military experience when compared to all who were in the fire fights and killing fields. I celebrate this day with you but because of what you lived, vs. what I experienced in my four year, 9 to 5 type "job" I consider myself a " vet junior grade", not near the great people you are and not near deserving of the accolade's because of your valor/ordeals/ that makes you great. My humble congratulations on this Veterans Day.

  13. Happy VETERANS DAY to all the VETERANS that severed their country deployed or not, you still dedicated your serviced to this GREAT country GOD BLESS AMERICA & please do not forget 11-11@11 o'clock .

I was in the USAF from to '85 to '89; I was at Clark AB when Ferdinand Marcos fled the country... interesting times.

My great uncle Conrad Bryant served in the Navy during WWII, and had three ships shot out from under him. My Grandfather's best friend was in the Battle of the Bulge and lost his toes to frostbite. Closer to home, a friend of the family worked on the Manhattan Project.

Thanks to all the vets here! The sacrifice you made so that we could have the freedoms we have here in the US are appreciated and will not be forgotten.

  20. USN '80-'84... Got to visit my old duty station USS Midway out in San Diego last March, right before the China flu hit. I was able to take my two boys aboard (10 and 12 years old). Really brought back memories... Thanks to all that have served, and are still serving!

You know I never wanted to be a veteran. About half way through my second tour of my senior trip to SE Asia I really, really wanted to be a veteran. Lucky me, I guess.

U.S. Army 1971- 1976 . My whole family served. I think every able American should serve. It's the few who serve and the many who reap the rewards.
The older I get, the prouder I am that when called I stepped up and served and then reupped because I liked it.

  25. I thank all who have served then and now. I thank those who gave their lives, I send my deepest sympathies to their families. I thank my friend Del Carlino who served as a pilot carrying supplies to our boys on the front lines. Godspeed and god bless.

  26. Looking at all of the replies since I renewed this thread I have noticed that alot of you all were MP's or law enforcement. Being Cavalry we had alot of fun getting away from the MP's over all of those years. Jeeps, to Deuce and a Halves, to Five Ton trucks, road graders, dozers, Bradleys, name it we ran from the MP's in them. Whatever we could get running and move in we took them. Never did get caught but it is a wonder as to why we never did. My personal background in this country alone goes back to my Great Great Grandfather in the Revolution.

I have had relatives in all of the United States conflicts since then to include both sides during the Civil War.
My contributions include but are not limited to; Panama, Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan. I would do it all over again for free just for the honor. Thank all of you for your contributions and respect. For those of you that do not know what a Recon 19D Scout does.
