A big thanks for advice received here on site.

My little Y Block is running really nicely. Very responsive with good power.

I have ditched the unilite Mallory distributor and replaced with a rebuilt and modified 1960 FOMOCO unit with mechanical and vacuum advance.

Running an ACCEL 20-20 breakerless module and ACCEL superstock coil.

Have set total advance at 38 degrees and have limited total mechanical to 22 degrees (11 degrees at distributor).

I still have some adjustments to make but will wait as I plan to change my diff gearing.

I will be keeping an eye out for some slightly lighter springs.

Anyone got any tips on spring weight size or where to source?

Y blocks are fun to mess with. They seem very responsive to inexpensive upgrades. If the insides are clean, a PCV will help keep it that way. In our country, we use Aerostar front springs, or custom wound.

Did you mean distributor advance springs or coil springs?

Yes sorry guys distributor advance springs. I will need to go lighter once I drop the diff gears from 3.0 to 3.89
