"never let the lyrics get in the way of the groove" Allee Willis' quote about the music lesson she learned from Maurice White. "ba dee ya"
The owner of the car likes the chop on this car, and he is building the car for himself not to sell to the m***es. We are even talking about doing a 3 window version of this car just to stir the pot. Right now the flared holes are really noticeable mainly because the new metal against the old and that's the only thing in the car to view and the photos were focused in on those. I would love to section a chop and section a 32 if it came along. I few more things to finish up on my end then the owner is taking the car back home for cowl steering Roll bar and reworking the front of the frame and drive train install. Once that is all complete there will be some hood sides to fabricate, and grill shell or track nose yet to be decided. My personal 5 window is next on the docket to bring in the garage. So if any one want to save it from being chopped speak up now before the sawzall makes its mark. I might just make a roadster out of it. What about adding 3" to a stock height car that would be different total phone booth style car.(or just maybe the normal 3" beauty chop) this last paragraph is in no way meant to be taken seriously.
I really like this build. I just might be to young to know better!!!! I learn the hard way or I just don't give a F@#$. No really sweet build don't pay attention to the naysayers. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I apriceate the craftmanship, the hard work you put in it! I love the tank, I love that you put race holes in it EVERYWHERE. I would feel all cramped up in my belly, If I drove by it on the streets. Even be afrait he wouldent see my little Girl when she is crossing the street. But If you put a bad-@ss hemi in it, with a major set back, hilborn and a portwin blower in front. Painted a nice sinister black, took it to bonnewille, I would be inclined to take my self to a remote place and rub one out.
REX. Dude. Man crush !! That frekn' car is S I C K !!!!! I haven't checked in for a bit.....looks like you have been busy indeed. I LOVE IT ! I keep going back to your picture of your client's garage. The man wants one of everything.......and doesn't give a damn what anybody thinks. What an awesome guy to work for. I hope you continue to pound hammers for dudes just like this guy. Wow. I can't even imagine the total labor hours thus far. Holy **** man !!!
Here are the past 5 window I have worked on, some remained unchopped some wedged some straight. It is not all the same car the wheels and tires that are in most of the photos are the shops roll around set. This one is a hard wedge. Straight 3 " 4 3/8 the 3/8 was to repair a poor chop done previously. Straight 3" 3" 3"
Nice , not a bad one in the bunch.I ve always liked the 5 window best. I'd like a redo of the chop on the sedan someday
Rex I am going to give you this you got the quarter windows right. that is the hardest part of chopping any 5 window. There are things about the car that are just not right in my own opinion and there is some confusion, the fancy fuel tank for instance with the bomber seats. The fancy fuel bag says show rod and the bomber seats say low buck race car. The dimple cut holes say modern NASCAR. But all of that is opinion and like everyone else here I have several. . . The craftsmanship is excellent by the way, in case you didn't gather that in my first statement. you do good work.
I might agree with fuel tank waiting to see how it and the battery box turn out fist. Those are bolt in items tha can change. Sometimes when you get started it is hard to stop the other night i almost wanted quilted door panels a kick panels.
I love it!!! Everything looks great. Not ever car has to be completely functional. Some cars can be about the performance aspect, some cars can be about an exercise in design and some can be about comfort. This one rules!
I like them all but i am biased. The hard wedge chop in my opinion could have used a stock insert an not filled.
I don't have a front shot of that car but with the stance there is alot of steel in the roof And this is my 5 window patiently awaiting it turn
Making some progress on the coupe, pulling everything off and giving all the parts a once over before it leaves the shop. file the edges cleaning up the welds. The bobbed fenders are not going on this car, i just needed a unpainted 5 window for mock up work. I was impressed on how well a stock fender fits the UPAC quarter panel.
