Ive got an early model T and I want to "hard mount" the axle to the frame. Not by welding but by clamping it with u bolts or some other way. Doing this would drop the thing 9 inches and it still needs more. Ive already stepped the rear of the frame, so the cars got a gasser stance right now.
a T front axle? Is it going to be a drag car? if not, thats a horrible idea. Just mount the spring on the perch sticking out the front. And you should make a self introduction post before you do anything else.
Well im building the car to be reminicent of the cars my grandfather built in the late 20's. Unfortunately I was never told quite how to hard mount a T's axle. Anyways im not sure what the motor will be, ive got a 50 ford flathead hooked up to a 53 merc 3spd with o/d and ive got a 1930 model A motor that I was going to adapt to my 39 top loader with zephyr gears. If you dont think the T's axle will hold ive got an entire 1930 model A front end as well.
Is this gonna be yard art, or are you gonna drive it? I was always under the impression that springs and all that junk were under a car for a reason. A purpose built car is one thing, but no springs for a street car isn't a good idea. IMHO
C'mon, I drove my uncles '37 chev all over the place and it had a hard mounted front end. I just like their looks and want to rework my T to have one.
