What are you guys using to hard plumb your air ride. I have used the DOT flexiable air line, and want to hard line my truck now. I know I can use stainless or brass, or ??? Any ideas, or old threads to go back to? Thanks for the input
If you go stainless run Swedgeloc (sp?). They are the top of the line for stainless as far as I know, and I've never heard a bad thing about them. Pricey though. Brass is what I commonly use. I like flare fittings or PTC style fittings for brass. I don't care for the compression fittings. I have had poor luck with them working, and often have to remake a line because of them not sealing right. Also always take into consideration, hard line can work harden from vibration. Any line can, so think about the way its routed, and support it and secure it as best you can.
Save yourself the trouble of hardlines and just do it nice & clean with DOT tubing and push-to-connect fittings. I've done a few systems with copper, and one with stainless. If it's done right, it'll last forever with no leaks. What I like about the DOT & PTC systems is the flexibility they allow, and the ease of maintenance. If a line or fitting fails, you're usually back on the road within 10 minutes if you keep some spare line & some spare fittings with you.
I dunno about you furriners, but up here in Canada you have to run DOT air lines on anything on the highway. The plastic stuff will go millions of miles on a semi, that should be good enough!
