    Hard rubber streering wheel finish
I'm painting the steering wheel on my '47 Merc and would like to finish the outside ring as black, the wheel looks to be hard rubber and i'd like to do what is best for this.
Anybody know how I should do this?
I will be color painting from the grip ring to the centre, its the grip ring(wheel) that I'm thinking about.
Hard "clear" over it or what?
    Any ideas, help, greatly appreciated.
    Cheers, Randy

Would it be better to dye it? Asking for somebody...

I bought a steering wheel at Moultrie about 10 years ago. It was some kind hard rubber but it was maroon. I painted with my AG 111 gloss black and It hasn't come loose yet.I would ship you some but you're in Canada and I don't ship to Canada. So wipe it down with urethane reducer, Check Sherman Williams and see if you can get a little two component Polyester urethane black.Do a little spot test first If you have any kind a US address I ll send you a sample to do your steering wheel with

Thanks for that, I'm all set up with 2k epoxy primer and single stage urethane color to do it all which if I don't hear anything in the next few minutes I'll blast it as is and later if I hate it I can strip the outside ring and do something else.
I had just thought a rubber treatment would be in common use instead of paint for that specific use.
I've made the mistake before with silicone residue on plastic when painted it went weird so didn't want to try without some sage guidance.

I would use a flex additive for bumpers in the color and clear.....
