I have a 70 Avanti absolutely no hood clearance Holly carburetor, Edelbrock manifold carburetor, just tuned, timings right, 6 pounds fuel pressure run it let it sit for 15 min. and cranks like crazy before it will fire. Changed carburetors still doesn't start right. HE I distributor. Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated. Thank you

In the old days my first guess would be "check the ignition coil". But I stopped guessing due to too many wrong guesses.

just to separate fuel probs. with ign. probs........ what happens if you spray fuel start into the carb as you crank.....if it starts right up its a fuel prob........... if it doesnt it leans toward electric......just a rough test but effective........good luck

Perhaps bad/impaired hei module-under the rotor...fuel line too close to heat source?

You need to do this first .
Or you'll chase your tail and might as well just rebuild it all

I also suspect that it may be the ignition coil. It's a repo HEI that I got at a car show. I think it's probably junk.

That's an excellent idea that I didn't even think of. It'll point me in the right direction. Duh, sometimes I'm so dumb!

Thanks for all your help, everyone!
