An MSD box was removed and now it works, so it was ignition here.

 

I had a similar hard start issue recently, no MSD box, but an electric dizzy. Ran through all the usual listed fixes. Turns out the battery was just tired. It was reading 12v so I thought it was kosher. Out of curiosity I swapped in a new batt and blamo, problem solved.
Just food for thought.
