Remounted some of the trim I installed in 97. It’s what got me thinking of this project. And since everything else is chromed on the dash... Going to be blinding to drive... Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Lovin' this Elk! I thought of an El Camino ('59, what else is there?) with the top 'factory chop', i.e. the convertible... thought it was just a dream. Superb job, so easy to follow. Rust so prevailant in these that it's like the impossible. Ford man mainly, I'm drawn to this. The custom antenna thru 2 levels is extreme cool...I'd HAVE to keep it! Ultra cool, Kid. Good move on the steering, too!
Got the chrome head for the autronic eye assembled, hopefully it will work without needing rebuilt... Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Thats cool... Here's a wiring diagram for you if you don't already have one ...I just happened to have a 1959/60 Chevrolet Passenger car shop manual laying on my desk when I read your post. Sent from my SM-T387V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
The body swap is done. Have to trim the rockers a little to get the body to slide back, but the front of the body is on the new frame. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I ended up getting a 59 Chevy mount for the autronic eye and relocated it to the correct placement. Also got the rockers trimmed and the body pulled back so it is closer. Few more adjustments and it should be close…
Yeah I also forgot all about this major project. Brother Chad, in our Misfires Car Club, is doing this one. Should be killer when all finished. 348/350 powertrain, riding on air.
Not finished yet. Just been sitting waiting with my other projects. Hopefully this summer I will get some time for the car stuff….
My goodness .. does this ever bring back some old - old memories ! I did a similar thing to a 1960 Chevy 4-door back in the late 80's.
