if you are talking about builders , then yes. Alan Johnson 2009. You would be suprised how many of the "high end builders" are either members or frequent visitors to this site.
I guess my question was two-fold. I assume since the award is 50 years old this year, there had to be several years with "HAMB-friendly" cars being built, and shown, and I assumed that at least a fair amount of those guys would find there way to this site. I'd like to see pics, too, and know who those guys are. Gotta be a wealth of knowledge and history....like mac miller is on here about Indy stuff.
I'm often astounded by the quality of work done here. HAMB members appears to be beyond some of the most talented indivduals around the world. The crafting and shaping of metal into some of the finest "works of art" is in itself, in my opinion far beyond the mere mortal work....your all Ridlers in my book.
Agreed. That's part of why I asked the original question. Sometimes I feel like such a hack when I read some of these build threads......SMH
the ridler does not get a lot of respect here, mainly because the cars chosen are not considered hamb friendly. That why i posted the list to help you research for yourself. There are several names on that list that are mentioned frequently here. Having been a part of a team that built one I have a tremendous amount of respect for the skills, talent and money required to build one as I also do for many of the builds on this site.
I know, yes, the current generation of rods at the Ridler aren't HAMB friendly by any means....at all. But since the award started in 1964 (I think) I figured their must have been a pretty good period of time where HAMB friendly cars were built for that show (and hopefully those guys are here). In my research, it's easy to find out who the winners were, but not the car builders or people involved in the earlier years.
