Im just curious. Once you reach a level of being able to fabricate with confidence, has anyone just built a car completely custom and tailored to what they want? I know I would.

Sure you dont need to build the drivetrain or gauges yourself, maybe not the frame, but everything else.

Id love to build something in the vein of a cl***ic, with all the curves and contours, but otherwise be a one off.

id say when im done i've built 70 percent of this body.

also building a rear left quarter chunk of a 34' still needs lots of tuning and welding

I'll be building myself a roadster from scratch next.

Those are really cool, but I mean like, you dream it up and start with sheet metal - looks unlike anything

I built the Futurian back in 2001. Probably not what you are talking about because it is a fibergl*** body. But I built the ch***is and body, I built the mold to blow the bubbletop and also painted the car and made the grille and tail lights etc

Yes. raced it for 3 years and then backed it into a wall @120 when i wheel hopped it into turn 3. So, not really a custom, but built it all from sticks of tubing and sheets of aluminum and steel.

My C Cab body is 100% homebuild. Gl***fibre over ply with some steel framing. the new Mack style nose is steel, however.

I'm pretty sure Hetfeilds Black Pearl is almost or is 100% custom made, No '48 Jag in that.
