Hello guys, I wanted to know if any one has used the brake & clutch petals of a VW bug? I like how compact and simple they look and I am considering grabing the setup to use in my car from a Pick-up Part. My project is gonna have some engine setback and I'm a pretty big guy so space is a bit limited. I can cut and weld and fab. it to work but wanted to see if any of you guys have pictures and information to work with. Thanks John
I guess you know the clutch is cable operated on a Beetle? It would be easy to use the brake peddle as the rod comes right out the back. But wouldn't the gas be backwards, it's a thin cable that pulls from back to front.
CNC and Jamar make aftermarket hyduralic pedal ***emblys for rail buggies that bolt in as one piece unit. Small and the brake and clutch has a master cylinder with it. Tim
you can buy a mount from the buggy guys to mount them to the floor or tunnel, if you get the 68 and newer pedals the gas pedal is attached to the ***embly, the earlier ones have the pedal attached to the floor, Check the clutch pedal and make sure its not cracked where it attachs on the bottom pin, Also check the clutch cable arm, they wear down and snap off after many years, you can weld them back up. more than you needed to know ! I think Peddle is to sell stuff, and Pedal is what you depress, like a gas pedal, as well as pedal..such as riding a bike. Which can be considered work. I duck as something gets thrown in my general direction..
Peddling is work too. Either way I try to avoid it. Work that is. And vw's.I had 5 of them and they were a ****house full of work.
