Ok so I will chime in on the "Spook Light"...

My grandmother was full of ghost stories. Ghosts, witches, etc. She had a pile of them. One of her personal ones was that back during the depression she had been walking down the alley toward her house with her sister. (The alley is directly across the street from the house where she lived until her death in '98.) They saw a glowing white orb about the size of a basketball emerge ahead of them. It bounced across the alley, in sort of a wobbly zig-zaggy kind of way, then disappeared into the yard of a neighbor.

Last summer I was working late in the garage, around 11PM. My Dad (her son) was just pulling in from work. He got out of the car and came it to see what I was up to, but seemed a little upset. So, when I asked im what was up, he said he'd tell me, but that I would think he was nuts. On his commute home from Hazleton, PA(about 50 miles) he passes through a hollow on a really desolate stretch of unlined two-lane blacktop. There are no lights visible from any buildings, because there are no buildings. I can vouch for this, as I have driven it many times. He said a glowing white shape, like a plastic bag filled with light came out of the woods from his left, passed in front of his car, and into the woods on his right, where it vanished. He even stopped and backed up to look for it, but it was gone.

I said, "It sounds like the story Mam Thelma told me." and he said "What story?!" So I gave him the rundown as she had told me.

Now, this may have been coincidence... except...

Later that summer, a friend of my brothers joined us for a weekend bonfire.
People started telling ghost stories. Towards the end, he began to (hesitantly) tell us that on the way to the house that night, he had seen a light in the woods. Then, I broke in and finished his story for him. You should have seen his eyes light up when I said it passed in front of his car, like a glowing white basketball, kind of bouncing and tumbling, eventually disappearing into the woods on the other side. He about fell out of his chair. His house is about 20 mins away in a different direction than my father's sighting, but also in a very desolate area.

Weird for sure. Three accounts from three people who knew nothing of each other's stories until I connected the dots for them.

not really a ghost story but still kinda creepy,

last year my friend bought a 52 buick that some kid comitted suicide in, apparently he had gotten into an arguement with his girlfriend and he was very upset by it. he went into his closed garage and started up the buick and just sat in the car till he passed out and died, but before he died he carved her name in large letters into the dash. my friend ended up selling the car but i always thought it would have been cool to have that dash and have it clearcoated.

  4. Hey jstorm,

I've got a house story for you from your town. This happened about in '89 in the 'Boro. Three of my old school buddies had rented a house together. One of the guys had a dog that stayed in the house with them. One night while we were all there having a few drinks and talking crap, one of the guys who does not live there tells about coming by one day and no one was home. So he tries the back door figuring he would just hang out till someone showed. It was locked so he walks around to the front to try that door. When he comes around the corner he sees a kid standing inside at the big picture window of the living room. He ducks back cause he didn't know the kid but then thinks, "hey what's that kid doing in my buddies' house", right? So he looks back almost immediately, and the kid is gone. He tries the door there, it's locked too. He walks around the house thinking some teenager has broken in but cannot find a window unlocked either. He stays until one of the guys shows up, tells him what he saw. They go in, everything is still locked and no one is in the house.
My buddy who lived there with the dog had previously told all of us of how at night the dog 'hears' something frequently. Most nights the dog would awaken, begin growling, then run from his bedroom thru the house to the den and would be barking a growling vicsously at the wall. He figures it is a mouse or something in the wall and pulls the barking dog back to the bedroom, closes the door and scolds the dog to be quiet. This happened more than once.
Then, (here it comes), one of the other guys was at that time a Murfreesboro cop. He tells us this story: He begins by saying he didn't tell the guys living there this before they moved in because he could have gotten in trouble with his job as a cop as it could have prevented the house from selling or being rented. But, a few years earlier a teenage kid had committed suicide in the house by shooting himself. He described the spot where it happened-in the den. He also stated the blood spatter being located on the wall-the same wall the dog had the problem with. Our talking crap turned into scared the crap out! My buds moved sometime later with no other incidents.

Here's some weird stuff......usually not my thing, but this car's got me thinkin!
Bought my '56 Pontiac off a buddy who bought it off a guy that took care of a cemetery. It was kept in a crypt, so it was indoors and not in too bad of shape. After a few weeks work I went to put the front seat in only to find a big stain in the middle of the front seat that really looks like blood. Don't know if somebody got killed there, had a baby there or what.......but it sure looks like blood.
Got the car on the road for a couple hours and was on my way to Indy to see my girlfriend at the time.....the car just quit. Checked everything, and had fuel air and plenty of spark, but still wouldn't start. I rode out to Indy with one of my friends, came back to work on the car and after looking at everything I could think of (didn't replace anything) the car fired right up and ran fine as long as there were no girls around.
A few months later the girl I was going to see in Indy and I parted ways and I got fixed up with another girl. I was gonna take the car to pick her up for a date and she backfired on the way. Not sure why, but I told her (the car) to behave and she did till I went to pull out of where I picked this girl up for the date. The engine died......same deal, couldn't find anything wrong. Eventually it fired up and we went on the date. It didn't go real well and the worse the date went, the better the car ran.
A few months later I was cruisin' around with one of my friends and his girlfriend was riding with me so he could give another friend a ride in his newly finished A. At a stoplight I hit the gas to go and the engine died again. I said to the car out loud (after a few attempts to start the engine ) that the girl that was in the car was my buddy's girl and the engine started right up!
Keep in mind that each time this happened, it was separated by months of trouble free driving as long as I wasn't on the way to see a girl or there weren't any girls in the car.
My current girlfriend talks to the car real nice like and she can ride in the car with no problems. Think the car was trying to tell me something? I got a good gal now! Don't know if Lili (the car's name) was jealous or what!
A few months later, I took this picture of the car with my girlfriend in the passenger seat and she claims there's a face on the driver's side that you can barely make out. I don't see it, but what do you guys think????

I bought a '50 plymouth a few years back and drove the wheels off of her for 2 yrs. then she just started acting weird. Sometimes she wouldnt run, then run perfect for weeks then nothing again. Well I decided to take her to Moon X-mas party back in '02 and she drove out there fine. I stayed at a budy's house the night before the show. We were all standing on his porch, all of a sudden my Plymouth's lights just turn on, We start freaking out and then the flashers start going. I tell my budy's I aint drivin that damn thing no more, my bro says he's going to check it out and as he starts walking towards the car the plymouth trys to start up! He runs back to us and we all start calling the car Christine! I thought the bitch was gonna fire up and try and kill us. She never did start up and then It just settled down! The next morning I drove her to the show, parked it with no problems. At the end of the show I drove home on the freeway and she drove fine, about 45. min later I pulled over to get something to eat, before I left I looked the car over and noticed the oil line running up to the bottom of the filter was completely off the canister oil filter!WTF! Who knows how long she ran with no oil cuz she was completely empty when I checked the dip stick, and no oil on the ground. The last thing I did before I shut her down was check the oil pressure gage and she was at like 30-40 PSI. I tightened it all down and went and bought some oil for it and drove home. I always had problems with that damn car! But I still love her! :D

  10. My old truck has something going on with it, so much so that since I started it I've stopped and started several times. I picked it up fully restored from an old guy that swore to throw a guy off his property when he found out he was going to put a V-8 in it.
On the way home got pulled over and impounded for the night for no regi. Now this was on a dark back country road without a sole on it, then bam the blue lights. I drove it for a year with no problems before I cut it apart.
It has fought me and broke parts for no reason at all. Right after it's fresh paint job a 2 X 10 fell across it scratching the crap out of it. It went back into the paint shop and 3 months after it was out, the garage I was renting caved in on it.
I started working on it again and again brand new stuff would break after running a couple of times. I had a turbo 400 tranny blow the casing apart while it was running about 3200 and no driveshaft in it, trans in park. The tranny guy took it apart and seen nothing wrong with the guts of the thing.
It's done this so many times that I have did 5 other cars since I started it. When I started the current t-bucket build my friends would ask why I wouldn't finish the truck instead. They just don't understand that it's easier to build one from scratch than work on the truck to only see something happen to it again. I have since put a new trans. in it so I'm back to the point of before the trans. explosion.
I'll tell ya I think the old guy put a jinx on the damn thing.

Oh yeah! I forgot to mention this.....that ball of light thing that looks like it's moving (right by the rear quarter window) shows up on almost every picture I take of Lili when it's dark. I thought it was dust on the lense, but it happens with other cameras too.
I still think there's a reasonable explanation for all of it, but it makes ya think!

Man, I didn't even realize I had a profile pic, but no....no face there. There is a sweet garden gnome in the rear window....maybe that's what ya see!
I still don't see any face on that pic I posted even after everybody else pointed it out to me. I guess I don't have the required imagination.

I bought a 50 chevy more door for parts (I needed 1 foot of the ass as mine was rotted in my biz coupe) Got the car for $50 bucks, the car had been sitting in an open field for better part of 30 years with no windows, interior was rotted out and the front seat was matted in a way I've never seen, (looked like something was laying across the seat), now before I continue this is kinda a lame story as I have no weird instances to pass on....but the one weird thing about that car (I couldnt get rid of it fast enough) is it STUNK....literally like rotten flesh....fresh rotten flesh, the entire car smelled, it was in the metal, I pulled the front clip off it, got my $50 bucks back, cut the rest up, kept the peice I needed and crushed the rest...seems to me that something would quit smelling after 30 odd years....heck that was the first car that pop told me couldnt stay around, we got it gone in 2 days....damn thing stunk up the whole area that it was parked in...

Boy........I enjoyed these stories, and had read much about James Dean's death car before, as I was a great fan of his, as was anyone of my generation. Now comes the weird part.....I get in the truck last week and head for Ga. My ex-wife calls on the cell just to shoot the shit.( been divorced 24 years, still friends) I tell her about the mention of the Dean Porsche. She tells me that I ain't gonna believe it, but she was doing her wash in the basement that day, and was cleaning out some things left by an ex-tenant from the upper flat. In this stuff is a newspaper article in a frame about James Dean being killed. She's lived in the lower flat for 24 years and says she never saw it before. Now she don't want the article around. Of course I talked her out of it for my shop wall. Now ain't that eerie as helll???? Ole Pork

When someone dies in a car and starts to decompose, that smell will never leave the car.........speaking of that, I have the full inside trim from the famous haunted hearse that does night duty around sydneys dark streets, the owner fully decked out the rear with seating etc..........I bought it off egay and theres enough material there to do my rod....it smells like a funeral and is all original trim........ Its not a business plug, so if you want, check out its history..and the blonde..........

Back in 98 i had a 62 chevyII, had just swapped out the blown straight six for a healthy v8, was in highschool, driving home from school, didnt have a stereo in it at the time (no place for it). As i was driving down the highway i heard a voice from the back seat (4door car) said my name. It said "Eddie, stop the car" i slammed on the brakes, turned around to see which one of my friends was hiding in the car, no one was there. i pulled back on the road again and a few feet later i heard it again, i looked in the rearview and saw nothing unusual, so when i got home i popped the trunk to make sure no one was in there, sure enough it was empty. Gives me goosebumps just typing it now.

My friend Matt (some of you may have known him from IF Customs) passed away a few years ago when a semi hit him and another friend while changing lanes on the 14 freeway here in the Los Angeles area.

Fast forward to about a year later: I'm driving on the 14 freeway, and my car didn't have an antenna so I wasn't getting any reception through the hills, but I left the radio on anyway so all I got was a bunch of static.

I was getting close to where Matt had been hit and so I started to think about what happened to him. All the while, I'm getting nothing but harsh static but was hoping that I'd start getting reception soon. Right when I get to the exact spot where Matt died, I hear his voice through the radio saying, "It's okay. It doesn't hurt. It doesn't matter anyway."

And then the radio just went back to static until I got to the 5 freeway, which was about 10-15 minutes later.

I really don't believe in ghosts, but that kinda freaked me out. Haven't heard anything since, either.

Well it must have been 1984 and a fri. night. We had finished a
thrash at my buddies shop and moved over to his 100 y.o.
farmhouse next door for some beers(well some more anyhow).
Now I could tell you stories about this place in Ohio for hours but suffice
it to say that something bizarre was always happening there even
going back to the PO's. As we're gathered around the kitchen table with the
stereo rockin out we found an insert from the local paper that was
a reprint of their front page from 50 yrs. ago(1934). Funny as hell
some of the stuff that made the news back then. Somebody had
relatives visit from Chicago and we were informed of how many
flat tires they'd had,how they were all related, identified everbody
that showed up for a picnic including the food they'd brought and
who prepared it. We were all getting a big kick outta this when somebody said something about the whacked song that was
on the radio. Not rock and roll at all. Then somebody guessed it
must be from the thirties as well as the next song and next song.
Next somebody pointed out that the streetlites were out and sure
enough looking out the kitchen window and its a dark bitch down
the road. I remind them with the oldies playing in the background
that they probably didn't have street lites out here in 1934. Well
we're all staring out the window when a pair of headlights appear
and sure enough here comes a banger powered model A putting
down the now dark road. That was just a little too weird as it was
after 1:00 o clock in the morning. Soon after with a little static buzz the radio switched back over to the middle of a jammin rock
tune and not long after the street lites came back on out on the
road. Coincidence? Beer? Paint fumes? Guess we'll never know,
but not one of us that were there that night has ever forgotten,
and that is only the tip of the iceberg of some of the crazy shit
that went down at this place.

  22. I grew up in a haunted house, though when I hit my late teens I began to doubt the whole 'Ghost' thing. Just not enough evidence for it, must have been something causing the odd things that happened.
I changed my mind one night when I was on leave from my unit after a knee operation. The rest of the guys were out on exercise when I got a call from my best mate letting me know they were all OK. I thought it was odd because thats all he said so I guessed something must have happened.
The morning news was plastered with a training accident that killed a number of my mates, Bret was one of them. According to the reports he was killed more than two hours before he called me.
That really changed my mind on these things. Since then I joined a ghost investigation group, we go out and look for possibly haunted places or are asked to investigate places by the owners.
Some of the weird shit I have seen and heard have made me a believer. There is much more out there than any of us really know.
We even did investigations for a TV show made here in Australia, the old Parramatta Girls Hostel, now that place scared the shit out of me, then they went and made a TV show in it!

I've decided my car has the 2 year curse.

Before it get's weird.. lemme explain.

First owner had the car for 2 years, He was a well to do doctor in Raleigh, NC. He had connections to several rich politicians, and let nixon's family ride in it in 62. Shortly after, The original owner died. Totally un-related to the car, but died anywayz.
(car drove for 2 years 1960-1962)

Second owner was his wife. She kept the car for about 15 years, (1977 mind you), and drove it from 73 to 77, In 76, after two years of driving it (1975), it was stolen!!!
(car drove for 2 years 1973-1975)

It was returned quickly, but with a rebuilt tag, because the thieves had removed some body parts, but had not sold any parts yet. It was rebuilt reassembled by local mechanic, and put back on the road for another two years. Bout January of 76, she died, leaving the car to their daughter. Who wanted NOTHING to do with it, but drove it for one more year. Thus the third two year stunt this car survived.
(car drove for 2 years 1975-1977)

the car then sat, as the daughter didn't really want it, and it was purchase in 1981 by a young man running a storage business, who had a thing for old caddies. He was the second legal owner of the car, as it had always been in the family prior to him. He spent two years getting it right, cleaning it, and put it back on the road in 83, for his brother to drive. Two years later, it was in a front end accident, requiring the replacement of the front bumper, and driver's quarter panel, as well as the inner fenders being banged out to fit the new (used) quarter. After that the "new" owners brother was afraid of the huge car, and gave it back.
(car drove for 2 years, 1983-85)

It then sat from 85 till 2000, when I bought it. :)

Legally I am the third owner. I purchased it after falling in love with it seeing it on the side of the road while an older gentleman was mowing the yard in front of a storage facility. Took me 3 months to convince him to sell it, and then another 3 months to come up with the remaining funds. My daily driver at the time was wrecked by my now wife, and I used the insurance money as a final payment. So.... for 2 years, I drove this sucker every day, as my only car. come 2002, it quit runnin on me, smoking like a cheap cigar. I figured head gaskets, and parked it, having NO knowledge of old cars
(car drove for 2 years, 2000-2002)

Hauled the car with me, up to chicago from Raleigh, and had it rebuilt. Turns out, bad pistons, and one heck of a mess. All told it was 2003 before the job was done. Drove like a champ. Plenty of power, nice and smooth, did some front end work, and lots of fun electrical changes. Was havin a blast with the old gal. Even decided, after two years of driving the gal, to move back to WIlmington, NC. Towed a trailer with the ole caddy, and had plenty of kudos for doing so, and everybody at the engine shop said.. no prob... shouldn't bat an eye at a trailer. Well.. waddya know.. engine took a crap on me... smokin again, bad pistons and all again., plus the trans decided that it won't do any more. It just sits in park, but won't go into any gear.
car drove for 2 years, 2004-2006)

I've now bought a new used engine, put it in, tuned it, timed it, and now it's smoking on me. So gotta rebuild it, and then attack the trans. Figure it'll prolly be 2008 or so before it gets back on the road with my finances.

    Waddya know.. another 2 years.

Not sure it's haunted.. but it seems like my caddy only likes to run for 2 years, and prefers being DEAD

I had a '65 Thunderbird that ran like a top... I rarely drove it but never had a problem... except when I drove it past our farm (which since had been sold).... rumor has it that close by there were as house full of satanists what dug trees up and planted them back in the ground roots up and all kinds of other nonsense... Nonetheless everytime I drove past that area the lights would go out.... No dash lights, no nothing... This was basically in the middle of nowhere so you couldn't see ANYTHING at night...After crawling in pitch black for about 2-3 min they would turn right back on. After the second time I only drove that car past there during the day.

I also lived in a really nice 1950s ranch that my parents purchased to renovate. It was a huge sprawling 4500 sq ft ranch with a full basement. I moved away when I was sixteen, but I remember even then that I HATED that basement. It had a game/sunroom, a bar/library and a second apartment. I used to have friends come over and they always felt uneasy down there... I had a few make up excuses and leave with no real explanation except that they didn't feel well. You always had the feeling that someone was right behind you... I can vouch that other things that have happened.... One night it sounded like someone was stomping down the hall... everyone awoke at once and looked out and nobody was there. Also another night the doorbell rang and all the pictures fell off the walls... The worst was the night my father was away and it was just my mother and bother.... I was 13 or 14 at the time... Something was pounding away like the dickens in the basement... It sounded like a guy with a 9 pound hammer crashing it against the furnace duct work... After twenty minutes of that, I went down with a fireplace poker to find nothing out of the ordinary.

I have moved four times since then and have never felt the uneasyness that I did in that place. My current home is three stories and 100 years old where I live alone...among other things it was a former rental property with a colorful history of being inhabited by people with dementia and mental illnesses to spousal abuse... I sleep like a rock at night... While the two owners of that ranch since then also have complains of unusual happenings, or so I have heard through the grapevine... :)

My 59 F100 is affectionately known as the Devil truck. I bought it out of Richard's salvage yard in Denton, North Carolina in 2000. I drove it home through the mountains at night in the rain for nine straight hours using 14 quarts of oil, slightly less gas, and having the headlights go out for about an hour and come back on their own. The lifters were tickin like a clock and about a week after I got home, the top end finally came apart about 10 miles from my house. The mileage was 66,666. Hence, the name Devil truck.
Last year I drove the truck to the airport to make a night flight in a little Cessna 152. I broke a brake line in the truck and had to leave it at the airport for a few days (until BenD came to down and helped me drag it home). That night on the flight, I got a transponder code of 666.1 from Indy approach. The plane had an engine fire about ten minutes later just as we clicked the lights at Lafayette. I blame the truck.
It's doing good now but it's getting a paint job this summer and the old black and skull and crossbones will be no more. I'm hoping the Devil doesn't dig the new blue metalflake.

Not a car story but it happened recently to us.

1:00a.m. of the morning of Cristmas eve 2006 we were woken up by my sons baby monitor going nuts. We had never had a problem with it before and havent since so it was kinda weird. Sounded like wind was blowing in it mixed with static and a little feedback. The wife got up and went into his room to check and found it quiet and the kid was still sound asleep. After about 20 minutes of this we finaly turned it off and went back to sleep forgetting about it. That afternoon around 1in the afternon i hear air brakes and diesel engines running in the apartment parking lot. It was nice out so i had the windows open and to hear this in our usually quiet apartment complex was odd. I look out and the parking lot is filled with fire trucks and an ambulance. People are rushing into the apratment 2 doors down but kinda taking their time coming out. Next thing i see is crime scene show up and start taking pics and the paramedics bring out the gurney with a body covered up on it. Come to find out the guy had either commited suicide or just passed away (investigation is still open on it) the night before around 1....the same time our monitor went nuts. Was it the spirit of this guy leaving the earth something else spooky talking into our monitor, i dont know. But for a perfectly good momitor to go nuts the same time a guy near by dies creeps me out.

Don't have any haunted car stories but when my wife and i moved into the house we're in now, about 30 years ago, we were laying in bed the first night and talking about how quiet it was compared to the apartment we just moved out of. Above the bedroom was an unfinished walk in attic. As we talked we heard, very clearly, footsteps cross the room above us, from the inside wall to the exterior wall. There was no outside door in the room, just a window. We kinda freaked, but didn't hear anymore sounds so we didn't look up there till the next day. The interior door was locked, from the outside of the room and the window was closed and locked also. We never heard another sound from there, but we mention it from time to time........The house is well over a hundred years old and several years ago an old guy stopped by and told us his Grandfather had built the house and was found dead with his head in the oven many years ago.

My wife and I bought a daily driver from her now passed uncle while I fixed up her Fairlane. My wifes uncle had purchaced the car from his Father before he passed, we are the third owners(78 model).
Now, my 5 year old daughter, who had not long turned 4 at the time asked my wife,"who is the old man that sits in the back with us?"
Nothing eerie, but to hear it from a 4 year old makes you go hmmmm?
