Just a little twist on the thread, but sorta the same, since I don't really know what year the trim piece was, making it difficult to even look for a replacement.
Friend bought a Brookville roadster 31 "A" rolling chassis new, and did a lot of parts buying and work before losing interest and selling it to me. Now it's mine, built to a point not totally finished but drivable and has been for several years, and gradually worked on towards a full finish.
PO had a '35 Ford dash sectioned and installed, complete with the glove compartment door. On this door was a handle and a Ford script emblem. The handle was some of Henry's early plastic and badly deteriorated, but at least I know what to look for, or machine something easily enough to look good and fit the holes.
But the Ford script, which was slanted so the letters were vertical with the trim piece mounted in holes at about a 45* angle, right end high, was broken in 2 pieces, but still in place.
Removed both handle and script and put away. Now a friend of my son says if he can bring him both pieces he can use the CNC mill at his work to make a replacement if I can't find one. But now I can't find but one piece of the 2 put away! And I don't even know if this trim is off a '35 or was added at some point.

Some years back, my best friend was looking over a distributor I had recently bought, and dropped it to the concrete garage floor, breaking the cap all to H*LL!!! Course it had to be one of those Chevrolet dual point distributors with the externally adjusted points, and therefore TWO "windows". Go ahead, price one of those caps out. I have a few extra caps now, that I've bought whenever/wherever I can. Most times, they are NOT CHEAP!!!!! I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

  3. I have a 1932 REO grill on my 34 Dodge. It had a beautiful badge but when I took it off it was pot metal and just crumbled in to useless pieces. Never was able to find another original or repo.

One of the dumbest things I ever did. Broke a late Merc block, trying to pull a head. Anybody want to guess what happened?

I meant late flathead block. I had all the head bolts out, but something was holding it stuck. A friend recommended I quit messing around and use a pry bar.

I guess so. I should have known. The heat sensor screws through the head, down into the block. Broke out a chunk.
