Barrel could your T Cowl vent have had a Seal Similar to the A but it has just deteriorated and disappeared?

Did the A have a similar roll in the metal under that Seal?

The so-called leather back Fordor sedan was the only Model A to have those cowl vents.
The green coupe is modified as is the rusty coupe, and if you look closely at the openings on the rusty car you can see that they look pretty crude especially if you check out the radii.
Yeah, the early photo of the ‘28 or ‘29 seems to reinforce the idea that vents were available but that is nothing more than a photo of a prototype taken by a Ford photographer.
Anybody believing that custom options were available from the factory is dreaming.

It DID! The early 1928 Fordor had a cowl vent but only on the drivers side. Bob

  5. The A doesn’t have a seal,it has a band around the rolled opening made of round bar.
Probably there to deflect water as it’s mounted vertically opposed to the cowl top.
Take the band away and the rolled edge is the same.
These are definitely T vents ,who fit them, who knows?
Crudely fit,I don’t think so,a good body man did these. Not factory fitted?,not worried.
    Thanks for the input.

This is a Hotrod forum as you know and its nice to know whats been done to yours by whomever (who was skilled at it no question) is absolutely period modded whether it was Dealer, Other Bodyshop or Otherwise with
Model T Cowl Vents with some form of closure springs.
I wonder if they were aware of Galamb's design or saw similar on another such as the Fordor.

One other thing that I did notice about Galamb's draft was the Vent enlargement has a border drawn around it that misled me to believe the shape was different. I did remove that border and now the shape better matches the Volvo Coupe, and the Galamb Body Drawing. Thanks again @Barrelnose pickup...

The Volo Coupe has vents nearly identical in size and location to Galamb's Patent illustration. You may be absolutely correct in that it may be a fabricated non factory item based on the Galamb Patent. I still will remain open to the chance it is a factory install based on the Patent as it very closely nearly identically mirrors it in look and in location. A certified opinion from an inspection of those attachments would be required to verify either of our opinions. As the owner of a Hotrod Coupe and Others both at Ford and the Public even back when these things originated felt and saw a need for such an option. If I was to add vents it would be cool to add it similar to the depicted one in the Patent. That said Model T Vents might well suffice as well...;)

Maybe it is just me, but,
Looks more like a deuce grille and surround if you turn it upside down.
