So, as I am working on my '40 Ford Sedan, I have gotten to finally replace the stock M/C with a '67 Mustang dual pot. I am at the stage where I need to bleed the brakes, I look at the bleeders and I see a screw in the "port", please see the pictures.... Why would there be a screw in the bleeder like this? All 4 are the same, it looks like it is done correct. Have any ideas????

Common on older cars, to keep dirt out.

That is what the originals look like...for a long time, replacements have had the kind that look like grease fittings, with an open dirt port for convenience. Bleeder hoses used to come with fittings that would screw into the old type bleeders, making a convenient and solid connection.

  5. It is so you can screw a fitting in and bleed it in the car without getting fluid all over the place.

Sounds to me like the old idea was better than the new ones.
