It's my super power, keeping stuff for years, then getting rid of it, one week before I need it.....

  5. About 6 years ago I did a major purge ... regretting some of the stuff I tossed. I have managed to use a fair bit of the stuff I kept though, so it's not all bad. It'll soon be time to do another purge though.

I sold the dash out of my 47 Olds back in the 90's thinking I wanted to go the street rod way. I was going to use a smoothy dash, but have since changed my mind. Thank goodness for the H.A.M.B. classifieds though. I found another dash here and can proceed with my project the right way!

If only we could predict the future.
I've done it, but as I get older I'm less inclined to get rid of things (hind sight gained from selling now hard/expensive parts in the past).
This mentality of course, is how we end up leaving (in most peoples eyes)*****, for our survivors to deal with.

I donated a spare engine and trans to a car club that I was in at the time for a club project, they gave up and sold everything and could have used the engine since the one I was using turned out to be not that great and it had been rebuilt. Never again will I do that.

Too much on your plate. I know you do, Danny... and it's not all cars. You'll figure it out. Me too.
A season for everything under heaven.
My dad had 10 children. One day in later years he said... You can never have the perfect house... for years I needed a bigger house and then a bigger house. Then you kids started moving away. All the sudden I needed a smaller house. LOL.

I give more stuff away if someone can use it... right away, hell, I helped a few guys install my free parts.

I did have a TH350 (rebuilt) that was on the back of a 350 out of a wrecked car. Some friend of my brother comes along and needed it, so for $75 it went bye. 6 months later a Chevy wagon comes along that needed a Th350, would have been perfect for it. Ended up with a junkyard unit for $100 that lasted me 8 months.

Yep, the best way I've found to find anything is to buy a new one. As soon as you take the new one out of the package, the old one will be right in front of you.

That goes along with the fact I never need anything I have until I get rid of it.

Funny, I bought one for $50, but it wasn't yours. Sold it for $125 because I didn't think I would use it. Time will tell on that one.

Was faced with some big personal issues a few years back and sold off a ten year or more collection of Falcon parts, including a project car that had a ton of V8 conversion parts on it. Didn't realize the buyer was going to cut the project car up until the money was in my hands, or I might not have let it go. Still fighting the same issues but dammit I'm gonna have a project car of some kind even if I have to build it from scratch..... and still have just a few "couldn't let THOSE go" Falcon parts.....

My rediculous situation is I like to collect vintage go fast goodies , cool items like lights and scoops ,valve covers, intakes and rare stuff. My bigger problem is collecting fenders and visors and body parts for stuff that I don't even have. I want a coupe body down the road but have 27 T Tudor so why do I keep nice 56 F 100 fenders and nice 32 Ford front fenders. Sign me confused :D

  29. I've probably sold a thousand parts in the last 60 years. Probably needed half of them later. The others, I wish I had them today, I could re-retire.

2013-03-09 16.54.25.jpg I only sell stuff I will never use. I was hanging on to a spare cab I had chopped just to test my skills but decided I would never use it so its gone.
