hmm. lots of funny comments to be made here...

i wanted to take my wife to the "bone yard" earlier tonight, but she had a "headache"

Oh, and after a few years of marriage, she doesn't "hold my tools" as much..

    I don't have a wife, so I don't have this "problem"

If I had, we'd wouldn't have to go away from home, to be at a salvage yard :D

Maybe this is also the reason for not having her :p

Mine likes to go with me to salvage yards, she likes to look at the old iron. And she really gets in to swapmeets.

Yes, she hands me tools when I'm in tight locations and even finds the tools I've misplaced. She has gone on 99% of our part finding adventures heck she even got the 57 project for me as a gift and encouraged me to complete this dream of have a classic before I die. I think I'm pretty damn Lucky to have this gal!

Mine likes to go along, and has a good eye. we were on our way one day to go to a yard that has nothing but old iron. We passed a yard with newer stuff along the way, and as we neared it, she said "there might be something in there, too."

Me: "No, that's just a bunch of boring new shit, they won't have anything for the '51."
Her: (pointing to a car right next to the gate) "that one looks kind of like it"

Not only was a it a 1950 Chevy, it had the driver's side fender that I needed (and bought the next day)

She also loves swap meets. She has a good eye for things, but sometimes needs to remember to quietly tell me when she's found the oddball part that I have a major hard-on for. We were at a swap last Summer and she all of a sudden blurts out "Hey! Isn't that the Kaiser grille you want so badly?" and points to a booth where the guy is packing up. Fortunately, he didn't hear her, and I was still able to get the guy down to 40 bucks from the 75 he started at :)

She's also got a great eye on Craigslist. She was the one who found the guy I got these from

And I haven't had the car for a year yet.

My wife was 17 when we met. A few years younger than me. I had a car I decided to scrap. The junk yard was only a few miles away. Not long after we met, one Saturday I put a rope on the junker and towed it to the junk yard with my girl friend/future wife driving the junker. She was good looking, a person everyone seems to like, and was wearing a loose fitting halter top. We were covered up in help, and none of the what-the-f#&k-do-you-want looks that are sometimes part of a trip to the junk yard. I have never gotten such service at a junkyard or anywhere else. One of the guys laid on the ground and untied the rope for me. They jacked up the car, removed the tires I wanted to keep, and loaded them up for me without me doing anything. I think they would have change my oil and put in a new set of plugs if sher asked them to. Given the opportunity I'm sure they would have done a lot more than that.

Years have passed and that kind of thing doesn't happen anymore, but she I still handy to have along. As others have said, she is generally more observant than me.

I have to agree with Tim....Ladyshifter does the same. Matter of fact at swap meets she can get the part cheaper than when I try to buy it.

Nope. She's not interested, and understandably so. I like to go with my dad and/or brother. It's all good.

  11. I dated a girl that liked junkyards. The only woman I ever knew that could do all her own car work...she even swapped a slant-6 in a van. I would have married her, but her husband probably would have been against it.

Wife never did go into the junkyard with me. She'd sit in the car and knit or read a book. She did tolerate my stopping at junkyards on the way to meets and shows, too. She helped me drop the 409 into the BelAir (my Avatar).

    Been 38 years now......I'll keep her I think.....:D

Years ago she went with me quite a bit. Says she even got in trouble for trying to pet the junk yard dog in one but most dogs love her no matter how they react to anyone else.

My wife is very supportive of my hobbie, and would go just about anywhere car related with me, but I wouldnt even ask her to go to a scrap yard with me.

I took her with me once, but somehow she managed to find her way home. But seriously, she's helped me in the garage, but I'd never ask her to go to the junkyard with me. There just needs to be some level of separation, and that would cross it in my mind; I've never been in Victoria's Secret either. Butch/56sedandelivery.

My wife wanted to know what it was like at a strip club so I took her to one. It was pretty funny, all the girls there were hovering around playing with her long hair and offering lap dances. She didn't like it but wasn't mad. Once in a while I ask he if she if wants to go back.

Mine likes to go. I even knocked her in the head with 12 foot steel pole on a scrap trip. she even helped me unload after the stars went away. Beside I work in one. It is a family thing the kids love to go and see the cars getting crushed. My boss lets them help drive the equipment. If you can't have fun with them why have one.

My wife tends to lean this way, she loves me so she has gone to the junkyard with me a couple times just to be with me.

She prefers the swap meets however.
