I visited the Petrified Forest, and it didn't look that bad!

I wonder if that's AI sneaking up on us again?

  8. I'm sure a good bath in molasses and the correct shims will get that going again.

Yea, the Titanic wasn't pretty, but the rust-lines that followed the forgings were really interesting. Same chunk of steel, but different levels of rust penetration & deterioration, could follow the "flow" of the metal as it was poured/forged.

Not AI. Just undisturbed metal corrosion, it makes for some cool effects.

  14. Not quite as bad as that rear end but I found this when I pulled the head off of this '35 Willys engine.

I call it AI. The cracks are too consistent and well-organized. AI expects this to happen in a predictable manner and applies a set pattern. We all know, from things we have seen, that it's not that predictable. If this was real, I think the distribution of cracks and material loss would be more random.
If this is for real, it had to be exposed to salt or something even more corrosive to get to that level of deterioration. I've seen a lot of stuff I'm sure was older in way better shape.
One giveaway is that the focus on the part is softer and slightly more blurry than the background, even though it's the same distance from the camera. That can be caused by loss of detail when the image file is manipulated.

Very creative art, the ( real ) pieces are made differently. Some cast, some forged metal.
The growing Rot developed the same,,, on all parts, but for the one bolt.
Nah, also the weed growth there, does not seem to recognize the presence of foreign material

  25. We had a hurricane expose some WWII tank turrets that were placed on the beach to combat erosion many moons ago. It was an eerie site to see a couple peeking out of the sand. There were some cars in there too.

Glass Beach in Fort Bragg, California has old car parts that have turned back into rock...or maybe merged with existing rock. I am talking doors, rear ends, engine blocks...used to be pretty cool.
