Motion Pictures HD Theater's "AMERICAN ICON - the Hot Rod" TV series

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HEMI32, Oct 27, 2010.

  1. We get it on HD Theatre Channel from Comcast. Episodes are on at 6 and 6:30 Pacific Tuesdays and again sometime in the wee hours on weekends. They are on the second time around and about episode #5 this coming Tuesday. If it is like most other HD series they'll rerun it at least one more time before coming up for air.

I've been looking everywhere. Only been able to find the first episode.

Over here in the Netherlands uploading/downloading isn't illegal (well it's not allowed but there's no punishment, go figure...).

As there are many many many people who want and should be able to see this show I'd say to whomever has it on harddisk and is tech savy enough (easy):

Upload to a virtual harddrive online, share the link with me and I'll upload it to a good torrent site so anyone who wants to can get hold of it. I wan't to see the next 4 episodes man!!! PM me!

Watched American Grafitti, again, last night just to get a fix after I caught the tail end of the 2nd episode on Discovery showcase.

I'll buy it as soon as it comes out on DVD, but in the meantime who'll help me?

bump - just saw this on HD Theater. if you missed it the first time(s) around, now's your chance to DVR them. looks like all episodes are playing in the next week or so.

I have all 13 episodes with the commercials edited out in wmv format.

  6. This has been on UK TV now and I found it to be well worth watching - especially as I have visited Hollywood Hot Rods, the Wally Parks museum and several other great So Cal locations referred to in series.

Chip will never make his living as a voice over artist but his knowledge and skills are so great that I am surprised they did not give him a little more freedom and let him interact with those being interviewed.

I contacted Dicovery's sales group twice since this series came out last year. There are no specific plans to release the first 13 episodes. That may change now that the second season is being shown.

For those who haven't seen it, season two is devoted to muscle cars. Chip still doesn't read cue cards any better but it beats watching American Idol.

What happened to this series? I've only seen two episodes of season two and don't see any listings for more. That is unless when HD Theater became Velocity, they only teased us with two and are planning to bring it back later.

Has everyone, that want's to, seen all the episodes of the first season of this program? As I mentioned before, I have all 13 episodes without commercials. I can convert them to almost any format, including PAL. All 13 episodes fit on three DVDs, (depending on format).

  9. dude can you upload them for download? i wanna grab these if i can

  10. I still need to know where I can download or buy this fantastic show ??

    Thanks

  11. Don't know what happened to it. Seems to have dropped off the radar since it became Velocity.

    Thanks!

Well, I have not found out any information about the show I was looking for but I found a couple of DVDs that are very cool. One is Deuce by The American Hot Rod Foundation and the other is The Hot Rod Story by Alex Xydias. I found them very enjoyable.
    Thanks
    Mike

If you look at all the videos offered by the Discovery Channel, it might be a matter of time before the series is offered on dvd. It might be worth the time to email them and request it .... if enough people do that, it might be a motivator.

Yep I have the first part but nothing else has come up on the down load sites. Yes that's right I down loaded it. I also jump fences to get car parts:)

Don't know anyplace on the web were these can be downloaded. If you PM me, I can tell you how it costs almost $17 USD to send three DVDS to Australia via USPS Priority Mail.
