OK so looking for help. I've seen alot of old flathead 6's where the headbolts were replaced with Studs. My question is where do you get the studs for an engine that is not that common. I am working on a Continental 226 with an Edmunds head and Intake as well as possibly supercharging it with a VS-57. I am building a 51 Willys pickup while I try and find the car I am looking for.

My other question is I found grade 8 threaded rod that I could cut to the desired length. Would this work and would it be a useable option? Something like this wouls solve some of my mounting issues with prackets that mount to the head. Please let me know any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Jeff

Call the ARP Technical folks. They've always been able to find something that would work for me. Ever studded the bottom end of a Buick Straight 8? It's not listed in their catalog, but they have the right studs.

I think Ebbsspeed has the best answer. Usually head studs are coarse thread on the bottom ( where they screw into the block) and fine thread on top where the nut goes on. the stud can be screwed into the block finger tight-the torque is put on the nut.
