Does anyone make a set of headers for a sbf in a '36 Ford that will curve down and straight into the holes in the frame where the original exhaust was routed? I have a Volare (GASP, I know, I know...) front end and the torsion bars are making it difficult to route the exhaust. My headers now are block huggers, but they are going to have to go way below scrub to clear that torsion bar...

Fenderwell Headers!!!! or... Try 5.0 mustang stock shorties. You can find them everywere for nothin. Check them for fit and if they will work get an aftermarket set from JBA. They flow and look better. They are not full length like you want, but I think it would be easier to snake 1 head pipe around your stuff then 4 header pipes. I looked for full lenght for the 289 in the '39 with a Mustang II and block huggers from Chrome-It were all that would fit. Later

I want dumps out below the fenderwell too so we are discussing running the pipe straight out to the dumps and T into that with the muffler pipes going through the stock pipe frame holes. We discussed the mustang too, but we were concerned they didn't make the right angle. But I haven't gotten my hands on a pair yet to find out.

You might try modifying your block huggers. Some times you can pie cut the collector above the flange to get the header pipe started in the right direction allowing the first bend to clear the torsion bars. A good exhaust man can get the first bend very close to the flanges.

You could also cut the collector off. Weld the first tight bend on and then add universal flanges for a disconnect in the horizontal run.

If you can find a set of factory headers to fit your exact needs, I'd like you to buy some lottery tickets for me. [IMG]

I'm really ashamed of Fuelpump. I don't understand why he didn't recommend you come over to my place and have a set custom made. He must not be happy with the one's we built him for the '37. Anyway, just drive on over and bring a couple thousand with you and we'll whip you up something guaranteed to scare old women and little kids. haha!!!
