Go to the right source and you can buy coated block huggers cheap enuff that there is no reason to even fuck with painting a set.. Dave
I go direct. In fact I haven't heard of the VHT primer til now. BUT, I've had really good results with engine paint primer keeping the paint from flaking off my Pontiac cylinder heads right above the exhaust ports
Groucho, tell me more about the engine paint primer. I plan on grinding the block and heads (iron small chamber 2.11/1.76s, can't afford E-brocks) of my 421 smooth (like you see flatmotors done) and painting it slick (to go in my Model A, open engine compartment), most likely with urethane.
Dupli-Color (DE 1612), in spray cans from Autozone. It really helped reduce the carnage on a nicely painted motor near the hot exhaust ports on my Pontiacs. The color may change from the heat a bit, but it's way better than flaking off and leaving bare metal to rust and look like shit. Your "color" will cover better over it than bare iron too
back from the dead///.... gettin closer to this step and was wondering? the ceramic coating mentioned above.... thats the one that looks almost the same as chrome right??? and .....does it hold up well?????
