I love old header designs whether they are relevant using today's science or not. I thought that we might be able to construct a picture reference gallery for guys that want to make headers that are appropriate for the cars that they are building. I'm not talking about your home made zoomies or lakes style headers that I'm sure you are proud of. I'd like to collect pictures of the now defunct headers that were purchased back in the day to use as reference material. The headers above are old Hedman's for an FE in a 58-62. The appear to have a cast iron wedge that would be difficult to duplicate in your home garage but they are a start. (BTW they made 2 designs. One for a stick and 1 for an automatic. these are for the automatic) I scarfed the pics off of Ebay. I bet there are guys with old Belond headers and others for the 50's engines that could add to this post. It would be great if you could add their application if known. I have some Hedman catalog pictures and pt #s that might help with application. Another set of Tri-Y headers of unknown vintage for the FE. My thoughts are to limit this to old headers and leave the commercially available modern headers to the web site seekers with credit cards. If there is no interest it will die a quick death. Got anything interesting?
while we are on FE Fords, how about the cast iron headers (62-64) These 180's look like fun to install
These are the truck manifolds for the Y block Ford. They can be identified by the bolt holes on the end ports. If the bolt holes are straight across on the end ports then they fit the 292/312 engine. If one hole is higher than it's mate then it fits the bigger Lincoln 217/268 Y block and won't work on the 292/312 Check the bolt holes before you plunk down your cash. It would be cool to document the cast iron Fenton's as well.
Second pair are NOS Hedman tri-y's from the early sixties they were made to stuff SBC into sport cars....fourth pair are also NOS Hedman for 62-66 Corvette.
Doug's Headers design for the 67 Mustang 427. Still being made today. Was originally released on the Hubert Platt/Paul Harvey Ford Super Stock Mustang.
I installed a set of those long tube cast ford headers recently into a maurader. THOSE F**KERS are HEAVY!!!! But man, they look so cool sitting down in that engine bay!
The blue one is an H-CH3 58-62 car The black one could be one of a couple of "racing" headers for the Corvette and or a sedan. It requires a header extension.
Here's a couple of early Zoomies. Note on the first one what happens when things go horribly wrong in an Altered motor.
NOS Collectors the left were with SBC Tri-Y's ,,no idea what the right side fits as they seem to angle up and out.
