Anyone have any ideas on how to quiet down headers.I have a set of headers with a 4 inch outlet and they do not have baffles and I have to ride with ear plugs if I drive over ten minutes,I mean it is loud ,someone told me to take a gl*** pack and cut it in half, but I cant find one small enough.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks Larry

There is a tone of info on this subject on here. I read a bunch and then built my own baffels it is amazing how well they work... All I did was the tubes with the slits then punched into the slits to widen them. I then wrapped the tube with steel wool, the real fine stuf. I had welded a flange on the end and stuffed them into the headers. Then tack welded them in... Simple. Work great!

Someone did a tech article on making baffles during tech week. I have the link, but it doesn't seem to be working now. Search the tech week thread and you should find somehting

Friend of mine used some Dynatech cones in his collectors on a dragster. Still pretty loud at WOT, but substantially less so at medium throttle. If you really don't want to extend the exhaust system beyond the collector, they might be worth a try.

Edelbrock makes some headers for the 93 style Chevy Caprices that look like they would fit on a Chevy in a Merc. The drivers side goes up over the spark plugs. I guess that might cause a problem with a lift side dipstick though.

Headers for a Jeep with a Chevy in it are similar that might work.
