Has anyone ever seen a stock exhaust manfold w****d with Header tape and what did it look like? Thank's in advance
Looks like wrap. If you do a nice job it looks OK, if not it looks ****py. Take your time and get your wraps even if you do it. I did it on my motorcycle and it made a huge difference in heat.
I also wrapped a few pipes and instead of exclusively using their expensive clamps I used regular wire and twisted from behind ( or below (out of sight) then cut off the excess pigtails and bent/tapped the stub down flat into the wrap. This allowed me to more tightly wrap the tape without it slipping and moving around. When finished paint the stuff with header paint and it cleans the whole thing up.
I don't see ant reason to wast the time and money on wrapping a stock manifold. At least with headers there was some reasoning behind it, though it ends up detrimental to the headers anyway. Spend the time and money on something more worthwhile.
Holds in moisture and rusts the pipe as well... I used to use it on my race bike under the fairings, but ended up getting far better results with seramic coatings. I really don't understand the wanting the look in an open engine car let alone a closed engine compartment.
All the above. And while it looks super cool race car like, if you drive it, it doesn't take long for it to be stained, dirty and ****py. Dosen't look so cool then. The guys who use this with benifit are driving race cars. They don't run around on the street every day.
