Hey guys, You all have posted a few great write ups on headers for the 55-56 w/sbf. I have a few questions though.

In my '56, I will be running a sbf , mustang cast bell housing and a toploader 4spd.
Will I be able to use the factory Z-bar location for the clutch? What about the headers? Will the Hedman shortys (88400)clear the Z-bar? What about the tri-y's? Do they clear?

I really like the look of the shortys and dont mind a little fab work. Whatchathink?

    I have a set of Tri Y headers I am going to use on y 55 Fairlane with a 302 & C4 . I will make changes to make them fit .
The shorty Hedman should work fine . On the trans , I don't see why the Z bar shouldn't work . I was going to do the same thing to mine but got a good deal on the rebuilt C4 so I went that way .

I looked at that setup on another car on sircampsilots and IIRC the ball placement on the block is a couple inches off compared to the Y block position. He ended up using a hydraulic clutch cyl to get around the problem. I am not sure about the headers though. I haven't seen him around lately.
