yea, they will sound like a sports car when i get it running. very smooth without a lot of lumps. i can't take credit for building them though, they were made by stahl headers.
I really like yours because they remind me of the old Hedman headers from the early 60s. That is the look that I am going for. I hate the look of block huggers and the true equal length bag of worms is too modern looking for my taste. I want the built in the early 60s look when headers were often sold for engine swaps and not necessarily to produce more HP. I'm still working on mine. FE Ford in a 56 sedan. They will look better when they are finished. Not great HP producers but they have to be better than the stock Ford FE bricks and I hope they will fit the style of the build. I know...I'm the only one that will ever notice. Except the guys that bad mouth them for not being state of the art HP producers.
Hey Kev, Those collectors a familiar. Are they oil-filter canisters? Have you a picture of them w/o the caps? Thank you
Tommy; Never appologise for your own work that makes you happy. There is a place and reason for everything we do. I like what your doing and like you said, anything is better than the Stock Brick Ford built. The Wizzard
I wasn't sure if any off-the-shelf headers would work on our '65 AWB Nova, Storm Warning. We figured big bucks for a set of custom fenderwells. A friend suggested we try Patriots. These are for a '55 - '57 Chevy or Street Roadster, and they fit! I just have to modify #6 tube very slightly and relocate a brake line. We're going to lengthen the collectors, add a street exhaust tucked-up underneath, and then here comes the white paint! Here are a few thumbnails.
Building headers in certainly on my top 5 list. These are the headers I built for the Coupe. Had the bends done by SPD in Sacramento.
Thanks to all who "GOT IT"!!! I wanted headers, love that sound, but hate block huggers and didnt want ram horns or log manifolds. Im tributing an old hot rod and thought my tri-y would have a nostalgic look to them when I was done. Anything thats hand built is ok in my book. I am doing "ALL" the work on my car, every bit of it. How many of the haters can say that. Louie
here ya go dave, my sanderson headers that broke on me 1350 miles from home. had to borrow some guys cheap welder. called sanderson about them, the lady on phone said my car was running too rich and thats why they broke. sanderson can kiss my crack. i have over $700. in these headers and i think sanderson should have replaced them. QUOTE=dirty old man;4584653]How about a little elaboration on that comment? Dave[/QUOTE]
made these for the Stude motor a while ago.. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=130330
A friend of mine runs these on his 55, then another friend borowed one to test fit on a gasser corvair and they fit and finaly I seen them on the corvair and borowed one to see if it fit my 41 chevy p/u and it did. These must fit everything ! On my application the collector is a bit long and close to the ground.
