Thanks Jim! I try to match the tubes up perfectly... then TIG weld them... file the welds down and then use emory cloth to finish the joint off. Makes it look like the tube is one piece. Right now they are up in Redding getting coated along with the rest of the exhaust. Sam
made these for my 425 nailhead in my 49 merc I couldn,t fit an exhaust manifold on the driver side to clear the power box so I had some 1 1/2" mandrel bends left over from my desoto hemi project that didn't get used so I put them to use on the nailhead.
Hope this works. Never did this before. This is a pic of the headers on my 32 5window. They were made from motorcycle exhaust.
What are you pro header builders using for bends? Any mandrel bent bends that I have bought are not consistent in od through the bends. If I cut and peice the od's are always off. I compensate for this by making the part of the tubes line up where you can see it but the back side always looks like shit. How do you compensate or is there a known better quality bends? Thanks
