Picked up a set of craigers that need to be cleaned up a bit for my Galaxie for $50, got a Edmunds 2x2 intake for my dads Desoto hemi, got some front spindles with disc brake brackets... sorry guys, my dad and I cleaned the place outta all the goodies :D

Glad to hear the weather was good.I have a hunch the guy I was talking to really didnt really want to go and that muddy grounds was a excuse he used to sit in a ***tie bar someplace for the day:)

A pretty darn nice second day to the event. It was windy and mostly overcast throughout the day...but not a drop of rain as of 8PM!

chance of showers tonight, but that wouldn't be all bad...wet the dust. Sunday is forecast to be in the mid-high 50's and sunny.

Can we make it all the way through a Spring Swap Meet in Jefferson without getting wet?

Just got back. Weather was really decent, although mighty windy today. Our canopy did survive though. Found a set of 16" bent spoke Kelseys with new tires and a spare included. Definetly an excellent weekend.

  10. My first experience at Jefferson was FANTASTIC! Weather was GREAT and met so many nice people there. Povertyflats and Lawrence bought LOTS, while Povertyflats was worried I was buying so little, I was very pleased with what I bought. The museum back home is bursting so I have to be careful with what I buy, as to avoid building the new Gypsum wing onto it! Thanks to all you wonderful folks up north for a great meet. Mr. Bobwop, thank you for being such a WONDERFUL host. I will be sure and tell the President what a great man you are when I visit the white house again. Povertyflats, I only hope Danielle can make it to Salina in July to the KKOA show, and you two can ride off in the jalopy together. She seems to be an awful lot like xderelict!!!!

  11. As a vendor at Jefferson I think, Gary the owner of Madison Cl***ics and the Jefferson and Elkhorn swap meets may be his own worst enemy. I have heard he has had health related issues as well as some personal losses but regarless he may be the rudest most self indulgent jack*** I have ever had the unforunate experience of dealing with. Setting up as a new part vender at his events is a real nightmare. Vendors are forced to set up Friday morning gates open at 8 pm spectators gates open at 10. If you have a sizable display as we have it takes 4-5 hrs to set everything up.My wife Jeanne called Gary and explained days before the meet, that she has a brain tumor and really has a tough time setting up on Friday in a hurry, she asked if we could set up Thursday night due to her handicap. This was how he reponded, you buy my f__king house my f__king cars and the f__king fair grounds you can do what ever you want! When we pulled in Friday morning at 8 a lot of vendors were already set up. Including some that had been there since Tuesday others were allowed to set up Thursday afternoon. I did hear a lot of complaints about the favortism that appears to take place there. If you allow some vendors in you must let them all in if there is an additional fee let everyone invoved know so they can decide if they want to pay it. At this time we are undecided if we will continue to let Madison Cl***ics take hard earned money from us just to be treated with such disrespect. If the show begins to fail all Gary has to do is look in the mirror to see its cause!! When the private owner of a show cant treat the people who are paying him well he deserves to go broke...........

I can't disagree with some of Kellys comments. But in Gary's defense, his wife's funeral was only two or three weeks ago.

When I stopped out on Wednesday to inquire about scheduling delivery of my Feature Car, Gary expressed how much he missed her and how much she did for the show. He expressed how much she did that went un-noticed. He brought up the subject even before I could extend my condolences. We are acquainted, but not friends. He had tears in his eyes.

On Thursday, when I was awaiting Gary's ***istance to park my car, he was going ballistic. Vendors were hoping to get in and he was not going to let them. He was almost out of his mind and it took me a bit of talking to calm him down.

These issues have always been around, yet it was not until this year that they came to a head. Part of the concern this year is two-fold...the event is now a three day event and there is some sort of issue with the rental of the grounds. The other issue is the weather forecast. We were fortunate to not get rain, but the forecast called for it. That meant Friday would be the best day. Certainly, this amplified the issues and the traffic on Friday was evident.

I am not trying to make excuses or defend Gary. I just wanted to add some information to what Kelly had already stated.

I hope everybody has a chance to chill out, especially Gary. These events are important, meaniful and special to me and those in the hobby. I wish them to continue with success.

Having vendors like Kellys Hot Rod Parts is critical to success.

  13. I cannot say that I do not have sympathy for someone who has lost a spouse even if they show little if any symphathy to others, but verbally attacking a woman with a brain tumor because he is in mourning is uncalled for. It would also be a different case if he hadn't been known for his unprovoked verbal attacks that vendors have endured for years.... Maybe its time for a change let someone profit that really deserves it, there are a lot of fair grounds that can be rented anyone interested in starting a new meet??? If someone as Cold as Gary can make millions off of swap meets imagine what a truely nice person or club could accomplish!!!
